OT - The REAL Drinking Thread

Submitted by mdoc on

Have new ideas about a drink called the "Assisted Suicide"?

Just find your favorite beer in a far away location?

Wife leave you alone for the night to go to the New Kids / Backstreet Boys concert?

Mourning/celebrating/ambivalent about the passing of a great/terrible/polarizing local figure?

ALL FOUR (I feel ya)?

If it's okay with you, Zone Left, BRING IT ON!

Right now, an Amber lager called Riverwest Stein Beer from my favorite brewery in my home Milwaukee, Lakefront Brewery.

Later on I might pour myself a glass of Lowlands scotch with a single ice cube.

I got 6 days of teaching left on the year, got laid off due to budgets, and don't have a job for next year yet... but life is good.

Gents, I've decided to lay off the food, and get on the booze. I chose my summer job about an hour ago (see internship thread for boring details) and now I'm very excited. I was drinking Vodka straight up with a splash of water but now it's time to get classy and get into the bacardi 151 and blue gatorade. Might even hit the local saloon if my buddies are up for it. Cheers!

Thanks! It is very small, but these guys have some huge clients. I'll  be the only student and they are interested in adding agents so it could be a great chance for me to come in and be the young guy that gets in on the ground floor. Plus, they assured me that my hours will be very flexible and that I'll be going with them to anything fun ie. golf tournaments, the draft, nhl awards etc. I can't curb my excitement.

I'm sure I speak for a lot of people on this board when I say that I'm genuinely happy that you have the opportunity to pursue your dream. It may sound stupid, but I think one of the funniest people of all time is Conan O'Brien, and on his last show on NBC, he said, "If you work really hard and you're kind, amazing things will happen." If you can take that to heart, I think you'll be in great shape. Cheers!

I appreciate the good wishes. I don't think there's anything better than working your ass off and having it pay off. Even if you feel like hard work isn't getting you anywhere, eventually it will. Just don't tap out before it comes to fruition, that is my drunken message to my friends on mgoblog tonight. Keep...fuckin...truckin.

Caribou was what got me my girlfriend (to continue the BD/JL/WD discussion up the thread). I can assure you I would not have had a shot with her if she wasn't completely inebriated from that stuff, which is not hard to do. I'll take this second to applaud my decision to make it that night.

First time I had it was at a huge campus party that charged $10 all you can drink. I tasted it..."where the fucks the booze? This is gatorade and pineapple juice, gimme my ten bucks". I was sure they were ripping everyone off.
Little did I know I was consuming Satan's ball sweat because after 6 or 7 of those drinks I can't even tell you what happened except that I apparently proposed to a girl that was a cool 300lbs and promised to give her the hope diamond as an engagement gift. As per usual, by the end of the night I was in the middle of the street yelling at nobody, demanding strippers and cheeseburgers. It is actually a miracle of science that I have maintained a normal, attractive girlfriend.

You and me both. Sounds like a good time though; the night I had it this year was just sitting around playing kings. My amazing pickup line from the night (she moved in across the hall) was:

JGB- "I wonder if my bedroom is laid out differently than yours."

GF- "I don't know, we should check."

I have no idea how or why this worked with an intelligent and generally pretty cool woman, (I'll stay away from the more vulgar adjectives on MGoBlog) but it did.

Just got done with some smooth Woodford at the track and even cashed a few tickets today. Heading to the house with some friends to crack open some Red Stag and sit in the garage and bullshit the night away.
