Rumor: Yellow Jerseys for ND Night Game

Submitted by Geaux_Blue on

Take this with a grain of NaCl but I've now heard this from multiple people who don't know each other:

Michigan's night game jersey will be Yellow.

No word yet on if it will be like the blue and white hockey sweaters with number on chest like has been discussed on the board but IDK. Could this mean white pants?! OMGz.

Night games are cool. So is blue at home.

Even night games at home - I hope it is only a once per year type deal. And a few more 1530 games on top of it. I don't want to turn into the Big East with a ton of Friday and Thursday night games.

And we wear blue at home.

apostrophes around his neck and quotation marks on his legs?  I can't tell what sort of statement that's trying to make.

EDIT: Wait, I think I get it.  His head is a quote within another quote, right?  So it's a profound statement on our genetic heritage, right?

As of 1:54pm, the rating for your above post is "3 Funny."  Meanwhile, the rating on my original post is "2 Normal."  How is it that your minor follow-up comment can be funnier than my truly original post?  The MGoCommunity is a fickle, fickle bunch.

and get me all excited? Could you imagine? (Special K could make all the slashy slash noises during the action -- AMAZING!)

Also, has anyone else thought that we might go all high viz Maize 'cause our new Big House lights suck? There could be some brilliance in this.

first the striped jerseys with the block M in front, now the all yellow look... David Brandon is trying to regain the "element of surprise" and get back some of that "wow factor" that we lost when Brian Kelly decided to let the cat out fo the bag...

Brandon's just throwing us all off

Also: To hell with Notre Dame, and their douchebag coach!

First off, I think the home blues are untouchable, should be what we wear at home. I'm less obsessive about the road whites - they can change the piping and whatever else.

With these Maize Jerseys: What's going to be the HUGE AWFUL OMG Deal? If it's a 1 time "fake throwbacky cash grab" like we expect whatever they wear will be, will it be so awful? It will sure as hell look weird, and seem off... but I don't think it will be earth-ending. The next week we'll wear our best-jersey-in-college-football-home-Blues and we'll be set.

The Athletic Department will probably sell thousands of these, make a ton of cash, and never have to put ads in the stadium. I for one have always wished we had a 3rd jersey (for road games only!!) that was Maize, because I think the lack of a Maize jersey hurts Maize-outs. I have a White and a Blue jersey, and I cant wear them to Maize-out games because I want to wear Maize. PSU's white outs work because everyone can wear a white jersey. We can't do a maize out that looks decent without a Maize jersey.

I won't like it during the game, the highlights will look weird, and the people who buy them will most likely be considered poseurs. But... if we have to do one of the things that everyone else does to make money, would 1 night of different jerseys at home be all that bad? Better than ads, better than permenant changes to the jerseys, better than a lot of stuff.

I'd much prefer all white jerseys over all yellow (no racist).

I think it would be pretty kickass if they built up the fact that we are going to use throwbacks and then wore our normal jerseys and helmets with maybe white pants or something.

I think that job would be the opposite of boring!  Think about the challenges of hiding the truth.  Churchill once said something to the effect that the truth is so valuable that oftentimes it must be surrounded by a bodyguard of lies. That takes a lot of work!

Iowa State came out with a gold jersey last year. I know their other color is red but I initially thought all yellow would. After seeing both, we would definately be better off with blue pants. Too much yellow is not good.

I said it before, I'll say it again. Put Denard in ANY jersey and he'll rock it. Whatever they wear, I'll end up liking it because it's still the same guys we know and love.

We only get 12 football games a season, 14 next year if we're lucky. Especially a game that's as big an event as the Notre Dame game is becoming, if I manage to somehow come all the way back to watch them, I'd like to see them wear the uniforms that mean Michigan football to me.

Of course I won't stop rooting for them - it's my alma mater, I'll root for them no matter what. But to drastically change a look that's remained remarkably consistent over 74 years for a short-sighted money grab (that I think weakens the long term brand strategy of Michigan football) - that's just heartless. And it won't look like Michigan football to me.

And when I see them wearing something silly on the field - it WILL take away from the experience, just like Ohio State's bullcrap uniforms have taken away from the game these last two seasons. Yes, the bigger issue with those games was that we were completely outplayed. But didn't it feel like salt on the wound that they didn't even wear their supposedly "iconic" uniforms against us?

Throwback uniforms for Michigan football cheapens the experience for me.

these Maize Jerseys in soon, so people think it's for the ND night game.

However, I seem to recall MDen & others always selling maize jerseys. IMO, this means nothing.

I like the all white road jerseys from the mid-70's.  But we're the home team and we're not LSU, so that obviously wouldn't work.

Maybe we should just wear our current jerseys.  I'm tired of worrying about how ugly the "throwbacks" might look.

I once heard we wore maize jerseys vs Navy in 1928.  Either way, I like this jersey, though would prefer it be more maize & less highlighter yellow.

Don't mind Maize jerseys (as a one-time thing) as long as:

- Adidas gets the color right

- They don't put some weird stripes or something on it

- The pants are blue.  White pants will look weird b/c maize and white are both lighter colors, and maize jerseys with maize pants will be too much maize

But the chances of all 3 of the above happening are about zero.  Adidas will find some way to screrw it up, as they always do.
