Salute to our Vets, those in Uniform, their families... and especially to those who have given the ultimate sacrifice.

so I think it should at least be mentioned first, but I share your sentiments.

Near the snow, near the sun, in the highest fields,

See how these names are fêted by the waving grass

And by the streamers of white cloud

And whispers of wind in the listening sky.

The names of those who in their lives fought for life,

Who wore at their hearts the fire's centre.

Born of the sun, they travelled a short while toward the sun

And left the vivid air signed with their honour.

Thanks to all who are serving or who have served for keeping this the greatest nation on earth.  My daughter is presently serving in the Air Force and will be deploying to Kuwait in the near future for her second tour to the Middle East.

Thank you for sharing that info...I had always wondered what the eagle represented and in spite of too many trips to the Big House to count, had never bothered reading the inscription on the Statue.

I also think the swearing in of new officers at graduation, which may have started at the 2010 graduation with Obama and was repeated this year, is a good practice and was very well received, as it should have been, by those in attendance.

And thank you to all of you who protect us. Be safe.

When can their glory fade?

O the wild charge they made!

      All the world wondered.

Honor the charge they made,

Honor the Light Brigade,

      Noble six hundred.

. . .

God Bless our fighting men and women, especially those who charged the guns and never rode back.

I would like to say thank you to all the brave men and women that selflessly serve and protect our country at home and overseas. They have signed a blank check for an amount up to and including their life, and I forever respect each and every soldier that protects our flag. God Bless America.
