Congrats to RJS, this is a big honor.  We also have a number of OL prospects such as Banner, Garnett, Starts, and a few others in the game.

How many AA's are currently committed to UM? If we get a large enough number of Michigan guys in those games, that can do wonders for recruting, especially with how well these guys have already recruited their peers.

Hopefully he has a better career than most of our other recent AAA Bowl participants...  Cissoko, Christian, Campbell, and McGuffie haven't really done too much at the college level.  Hagerup's doing fairly well, but unfortunately, an AAA Bowl selection hasn't guaranteed success for these guys...

That would be like saying that a Penn State running back is more likely to have a career ending injury soon after getting to the NFL than a running back from another school. Yes, Ki-jana Carter and several of those guys did have unfortunate accidents, but that really isn't somehow cause their next running back to get injured as well. It's just something that happened in the past - it can't somehow affect the future. There is no AAA curse, and there is no Madden curse either . . . .

I'm not saying there's a correlation.  I'm just pointing out that, unfortunately, AAA participants haven't done so hot for Michigan lately.  So while it's a great honor for Jenkins-Stone (and other players) to be selected, it's hardly a certainty that his selection will lead to a great career.  I think a lot of people who see "He's on the AAA Bowl roster!" suddenly think that said player will automatically be great.

I'm sure you can name more names than I can, but wasn't Cullen Christian one? I also want to say Isaiah Bell. If your point was that more of our AA team guys have been busts than successes, you probably have a point. But RJS doesn't have that kind of a feel to him - more of a blue collar type, IMO . . .

Bell was Under Armour, but you are right about Christian. Boren, Mallet, B. Smith, Turner and Lalota were also Army. (I guess Mallet turned out to be a very good QB, just not for us.)

On the bright side Graham, Schilling, Mouton and Warren were all Army All Americans too.

The jury is still out on Stokes and Gallon who were also Army. I am hoping Stokes can flourish under Hoke. He's not too small at 6'0 and his mgoblue bio lists a 4.38 40. He might be starting opposite of Roundtree in 2012.

So we are batting about .500 ! Certainly not what you'd expect. And then there's Lalota - I'd like to think that this kicker decommiting thing is in the past .  ;)  Well, I'm still willing to say that our bumps in the road with AAs is a fluke, and that when one of our prospects is selected, it is nothing but a good thing . . .

Since you seem to follow the AA teams more than I do, do we have a better track record with Army or UnderArmour guys?

The Under Armour game has only been around for a few years.  The only guys I can think of to have played in it were Lewan, Gardner, Dorsey, and Bell.  Lewan has done well, but the jury's still out on Gardner and Bell.  Dorsey was obviously a bust off the field.

Stonum, Moore, O'Neill (gone), and Barnum all played in the inaugural game in 2008. Christian Wilson also played in that game but decommitted from us and committed to UNC before signing day. Washington and Roh also played in 2009 in addition to those mentioned above. I think I remember Roh playing pretty well. I think he chased Russell Shepard down a couple times. I think Marvin Robinson was named to the UA game but was hurt or something and didn't play.

I'm not really sure who we have the better track record with. I am tempted to say Army, but like Magnus said, it has been around longer. I still prefer it since it is the original and not just some ESPN imitation. And despite past whiffs, I still want to see a lot of our guys in these games, so needless to say, I am quite happy for Royce.

I an sure part of it is the number of guys beings asked to come to the games now. Lemming is adding a 3rd highly visible all star game this year with the marines, these kids just aren't strong enough to play well after only 1week of practicing together

And with that he's guaranteed to move up the Rivals rankings. The simplistic game rules often lead to linebackers and defensive ends seeing a lot of attention so this is a great opportunity for RJS to show off.
