Recruit #13

Submitted by Jon Benke on

On the front of the Michigan scout.com page, it flirts with the notion that Michigan has just added another recruit .. anyone know about this .. TomVH?

Do we know that it is a DB?  I was wondering if Jordan Diamond or more likely Sheldon Day were close to committiing.  Chris Wormley said he was waiting until track was over to focus on his recruitment, which I am not sure when that is.  I think Armani Reeves is another good possibility, and hopefully Terry Richardson has been recruiting him harder than his teammate Camren Williams.  When will the commitment be announced or known to the public?

I think one of the posters above said it was from a non-Midwestern defensive player eliminating Diamond (offense, Illinois) and Day (Indiana). But I admit I would absolutely love to get those guys too. Does anyone know if we still lead for Day? I haven't heard as much about him recently. I think he is supposed to be at the upcoming OSU Nike camp along with several other Michigan commits. Hopefully they can get in his ear.

I don't know if I believe this rumor.. His head coach, John Hart, used to be at Evansville Reitz and coached me.. He was never a big OSU guy but we also didn't have a Sheldon Day on our team and never had anybody recruited by them .. I think we have a good shot at him. I still stay in touch with coach Hart here and there and from what we talked about last time, he's pretty high on Michigan..

I could see Richardson getting on the phone to Reeves, telling him "the LBs are in place, the DEs are lining up, let's form a monster CB tandem"

It would seem like, given that we don't have a lot more room for DBs, that it would be "commit now or forever hold your peace" . . .

1. Not in midwest

2. On defense

Possibilities: A. Reeves, W. Morgan, W. Hines, O. Pipkens

Less Likely: N. Agholor, J. Jones, R. Watson

Doesn't fit criteria: A. Washington, A. Burbridge, D. Stanford, G. Kiel, Z. Pike, S. Day, J. Johnson, A. Standifer, T. Strobel, C. Wormley

Am I missing any names???

FWIW, I know Rivals classes Missouri as Midlands and not Midwest. Not sure what Scout and the others do.

Not going to weigh in on what I think, mostly because I couldn't possibly care less but for Rivals at least, Missouri is not considered Midwest.

EDIT: Per the link, Scout do have Missouri in the Midlands as well so Pipkins should be considered. I don't think it's him, but he's a possibility.

"even if a site classifies it as "Midlands" it would still meet the criteria for the Midwest"

Except the site breaking this news and classifying it as non-Midwest is Scout which lists Missouri as non-Midwest. The census isn't the one giving us this news. Therefore, we need to consider Scout's interpretation.

I consider Russia more part of Europe then of Asia. Not everyone in the world does and that's something I might have to consider when interpreting news/opinions, etc.

Jordan Diamond. At least in your "doesn't fit criteria" catergory.  But I'm not sure where you heard that this recruit is not in the midwest and plays defense.  If I were to guess without confirmation about your details, I would guess Jordan Diamond, especially since he tweeted recently that he was close to making a decision, and a few hours ago canceled his visit to Wisconsin for whatever reason.

Hines seems a little far afield for me. Has he even been on campus yet? And Missouri is still the Midwest, although, granted, people tend to forget that. I imagine it's either Reeves or Morgan, and that makes the most sense, as the CB position just lost one opening.
