This guy Blackwell and how he has built a strong support system for kids in the Detroit area to improve their grades and exposure and allow Detroit to flourish as an area of top talent. But mostly focuses on the kids and how they have been able to improve their lives and potential futures through this new support system.
Here's one part thats really striking:
"For Norfleet, his father is in jail, his mother isn’t doing well and his grandfather has been the one active in his life. Blackwell has been a big influence on Norfleet, who comes from the same King program and holds scholarships from the likes of Cincinnati, Michigan State and Tennessee.
Norfleet has seen his GPA rise from 2.5 to 3.2 since working with SMSB.
“He’s a big part of why I’ve made it this far,” Norfleet said. “Pushing me, motivating me, leading me in the right path. I’ve been able to meet a lot of people from out of state and meet kids in state and I feel comfortable representing my city.”
There are plenty of reasons to get disgusted/depressed/cynical about people these days, but Blackwell—and all those who are working with him at every level—are a testament that there are still good people out there.
But Blackwell is still a hero.

I haven't heard about this at all, but it seems like a really solid program. Good for Blackwell for making it happen. That is truly inspiring and at the end of the day he is making the world a better place by giving these kids the opportunity/ teaching them to make their own opportunities. I really liked that article.
Also, maybe this isn't the right place for this solicitation, but I volunteer at the local boys and girls club once a week to tutor high school and middle school students. Really not much of a time commitment, but it can make a difference in a kid's life, and its a rewarding experience in general. I would encourage anyone on the board to get involved in something like that if you have an hour or more to spare every week.

Nice to read about a program making a difference for kids - including guys who aren't D-1 prospects.
I hate to admit it but as I was reading the article I kept asking myself "is that an NCAA violation? Is that? Is that?" I hate wondering about that for a program like SMSB.
