Football Saturdays through Alumni Assoc

Submitted by winterblue75 on

Has anyone else heard back from the Alumni Assoc regarding the ticket packages that they were offering? The one where the form was due a few weeks back, and a long line ensued outside the Alumni Assoc building?

I have done it a few times in the past.  Typically, I get a charge on my credit card end of May or early June maybe for the tickets.  Since the tickets vary slightly in price from game to game, I can usually tell which ones I got based on the amount I was charged.  Then you get the tickets in mid August or in the case of last year about a month or so before the Wisconsin game.

...when they realized they didn't sell all 1000 for Wisconsin.

Hoping to get my pair for ND/SDSU since I need all I can get for the ND game (it's doubling as my brother's bachelor party).

My brother-in-law used to work at the AAUM and I'd get my requests in ahead of the pack. Too bad he started his own business.

I got confirmation of my order a week ago today. O State and Eastern. Had to overnight the app from Columbus and guarantee delivery by 10 am. This scheme has worked every time.

I got confirmation last week that I got tOSU and Eastern.  Had the ND and SDSU as my first choice but given the story of the line outside the alumni building, I had no chance at those.

My application got stamped at 9:30am on the 20APR11.  ND was sold out by 9:00am.  My second choice was OSU/EMU which I got.   I forgot to indicate how many tix for EMU.  I told her 2.  My CC was charged by 5pm that day.

Check your CC activity.  If you do not have any action, call the UMAA and ask.  They are very helpful.

Has anybody heard at all about ND/SDSU?  I had a friend who was in line early in the morning and that was my first choice.  I didn't indicate any packages as my second choice, only single game tickets.

Now I'm worried.

Thanks a lot for ruining my day.  I spend $20 to overnight my application so it would be received early in the morning to learn today that the ND tickets were sold out by 9am?  Mother F-er!  The regional bias is absolute bullsh-t.  I'm sending a complaint to the Alumni Association on this one.  It should have all been mail-order to be fair.  What am I to do next year?  Pay someone to stand in line for me?  F- that sh-t!

(swear much?)

You want to know the worst? As I was waiting in line, once I got up to the building and the entrance door, there was an overnight early AM delivery sticker stuck on the glass. Delivery was attempted before 8am, but no one was there yet to answer the door....so they didnt leave the envelope. Just a poor sticker, and someones dreams of probably trying to see ND dashed.

I put the ND package choice first since I knew priority was given to the packages.  So, in other words, I spent $20 on the morning delivery and was prepared to spend the additional money for two tickets to a game that I could not attend just to get the ND tickets.  The alumi association is close to losing my annual membership fee . . .

I just called over to the AAUM and they said that they have not processed all the packages yet.  I was in line by 8:15 and I still haven't heard about my ND-SD package either.

To Whom It May Concern,

By way of background, I have been a member of the AAUM since 1997.  Until now, my wife and I have happily paid the annual membership dues in order to enjoy the benefits of being two of the thousands of members of the AAUM.  However, I am now questioning whether or not I will be renewing my membership next year . . .

I feel compelled to express my displeasure about the way the Football Saturday Ticket Program (“FSTP”) was handled.  I am informed that the AAUM was flooded with FSTP requests for 2011 Notre Dame tickets (both package and individual game).  So much so, in fact, that fellow alumnus lined up outside the doors of the AAUM building to make sure their individual applications were immediately received (to the detriment of the thousands of us that do not live in the Ann Arbor area).

I obviously do not fault those dedicated fans that flocked to the offices – I would have done the same had I been able.  However, living and practicing law in North Carolina did not afford me the luxury of flying up to Ann Arbor to make sure that I was first in line.  Instead, I paid $25 to ship my FSTP application via Express Mail for morning delivery.  I was informed that the application was delivered before noon.  However, I was also recently informed that the Notre Dame package sold out by approximately 9:00am due to the numerous people that lined up beforehand.

Because of this geographical bias, the FSTP application process is inherently flawed.  In my humble opinion, one of the best services that the AAUM provides is making tickets to football games available to AAUM members.  This service is even more valuable to the out-of-staters that do not have immediate, local access to ticketholders.  Instead, it appears as though the AAUM favors locals over these same out-of-staters that arguably need the service more than the local members.  It is clear that, going forward, the process must be changed to make it equitable for all AAUM members across the world.  If it is not, I am afraid that this AAUM member will likely decide not to continue to be a member after this 2011 year (and may not have recently renewed).

Thank you for your time and consideration.

I called the Alumni Association today and was told that they are still processing applications, including ones for the ND game, and that not hearing anything about that game yet does NOT mean that you don't have a ticket.
