OT: Still up?

Submitted by Noleverine on

This thread is to discuss anything at all.  Be it tattoo gate, players'/recruits' twitter, or anything else you'd like to talk about that you can't out of fear of being berated by other posters (within the confines of MGoBlog rules, of course).

Our AC broke and it just happened to be almost 90 here today and will be hot and humid tomorrow. I can't even enjoy the warm weather!

Rant over.

I've had a great day.  I talked to an advisor, and in the process realized that I'll be able to defer paying off my student loans until next summer (cue happy dance).  Plus I got a 92 on my last physics test yo.  To top that all off, the Wings won and we're going to Game 7 in two days.

I'll try to get one tomorrow.  He's sleeping now under the sofa, and my wife would kill me if I woke him up to post a picture on MGoBlog.  She already can't stand how much time I spend on this site, and trying to explain why I post pictures of my cat on a sports blog at this time of night is just not worth it.

Honestly, I feel like smoking some weed on my balcony that overlooks the graveyard, hah.  Too much?

I'm enjoying a bit of schadenfreude with the whole O$U scandal.  Funny how my friends going there point and say "You're on probation right now."  True, but the situations are entirely different.  It's kind of like comparing murder to shoplifting IMO.

You hate to see stuff happen to the athletes (at least I do).  For example, our 'PracticeGate' "scandal" (notice the use of scare quotes) didn't seem at all to be the fault of the players, but what happens?  They get the punishment (lost practice time, reduced coaches in attendance, etc.)  It seems to me the staff, outside of our lying graduate assistant, didn't really get punished.  Rather, the players were punished more than the coaches and the responsibility was truly on the coaches.

That being said, the fact that they were (or are being) knocked off their high horse is great.  I feel vindicated because I always felt sketchy about OSU.  I wonder what more might be going on behind closed doors in Columbus.

Is this like computer coding where as you find an error, your probability of finding more errors increases?  If you find one violation, you can find more if you dig deeper.

Allow me to posit a question: If OSU gets in trouble for the car scandal, on top of everything else, that is shown to go back to pre-Maurice C., do you see it likely that they have to vacate all of those seasons?  Has it ever happened before where a school had to vacate a decade of wins?  Will JT be completely wiped from the record books?

Speaking of OT, anyone watch Letterman tonight? I usually don't watch his show, or much TV for that matter, but he had Mark Harmon on (actor on NCIS) and they talked about his Heisman Trophy winning father for a few minutes. I guess success truly does breed success.

People have been telling me to watch Dexter for a long time now, so I finally decided to give it s shot.  It's a pretty good show so far, only about 5 episodes in to the first season, but it's been giving me these strange...desires...

I have a list of shows that I need to start watching and Dexter is one of them.  I also have Six Feet Under and Sopranos on my list.  I am currently about to finish season 1 of The Wire.  I know, I am very late to the party.  So far I love the show and Lester Freamon is one of my favorite characters.

The Wire was incredible.  My roommate told me to watch it for years, and once I finally did sit down to watch it I ended up watching all 5 seasons in like 3 days.  IMO the first season is the best, second season is kinda dry.  Don't lose faith in the second season, it picks back up after that one.

And for me, Bubbles is my homeboy.

That is like the same thing I did wish Lost.  I saw season 1-5 on netflix in a very short amount of time.  I basically had no life, but to watch Lost.  I then picked up with everyone else when season 6 started.

Thanks for the tip on The Wire.  I too like Bubbles, so far I think he is a very likable character.  I'm just really intrigued by how the story is going to progress.  I'm also very curious about how they develop some of the main characters.

to pursue my dream: teaching. I knew it would be tough becoming a teacher, but I didn't know I was also becoming a parent, a counselor, and a social worker in the process. I got the toughest kids and got some of the best results in the schools.

My reward? A pink slip, one of 60 handed out in our district today.

Fucking seniority shit.

How's that for an "Anything."

I will spare you guys the details....but the new commit news has me feeling better already.  I have to admit that I was wishing for Kiel kid to make a move for us.  Not knowing what the coaching staff is planning will have the boards smokin' for the next week, I am sure!

My two year old daughter started the purge-boot-reset cycle at 5 am this morning.  Projectile expulson from a two year old is not fun, especially after you've been up watching the Wings force a game 7 and taking a couple hours to calm down... Seriously, if felt like I had a bunch of marmots wrestling in my chest for the entire third period!

Now it's time to write some policies and procedures!

At least it's not Monday.
