OT: Treme tour to make stop in AA, 11/11/2011

Submitted by pinkfloyd2000 on

If anyone is interested, the Treme tour is making a stop in Ann Arbor on Friday, November 11, featuring the Rebirth Brass Band, with Donald Harrison, Jr., Christian Scott, Dr. Michael White, and Glen David Andrews.

Unfortunately, Kermit Ruffins and other cast members (Wendell Pierce -- Antoine Batiste & The Wire's Bunk) will not be making the Ann Arbor trip. Still, if you dig this kind of music, or dig the show itself (which means you probably dig the music!), this will probably be well worth it.

I was introduced to the RBB (and other artists, like Kermit -- and legends like Professor Longhair), through the HBO series itself. Since I've been watching, I have a new found respect and appreciation for New Orleans jazz/brass. But, I really had no idea who many (well, most) of these folks were before the series began.

The Wire is what led me to this show, first and foremost -- and I think The Wire will always be my all-time favorite show. But this one is really growing on me, too -- as the music has. There's certainly more than a little bit of Bunk in Antoine (and even a little Lester in the Big Chief), that's for damn sure!
