I think some dude named himself "No More Pincher Bugs" after this aired the first time.
The first time I saw this piece on ESPN, I enjoyed it.
But in the context of Urban Meyer becoming a possible replacement to the Sweater Vest, am I the only one who is uncomfortable watching him walking around our practice field, interviewing our coaches, and talking to our players?
I mean, I guess it is better than Nick Saban conducting interviews, but let's be sure Urban is planning on staying retired before we let him watch us practice all our plays and get to know all our players.
Mattison and Meyer used to coach together. Meyer isn't going to see anything he hasn't seen before. Also all the B10 coaches get together and share info in the offseason anyway.
Woody Hayes used to come to practice after that Clemson player ran into his fist and OSU asked him to leave. I wonder if he finally bought that tank of Michigan gas he was always opposed to?
The Pincher Bug technique has been outlawed by the new staff...banned just like the wearing of red or the useage of the word 'state' after ohio.
First off, Urban Meyer cited the reasons for stepping down from Florida as wanting to spend more time with his family and children, all of whom are either in high school or college at this point. Also, the man has had several heart related issues related to job stress over the past couple years. I really don't see him all of a sudden contradicting all of that to take a position of relatively equal if not of less prestige than what he had at UF.
Second, although I am beginning to despise ESPN for their continual obsession for certain markets, such as the SEC, I do not think the Michigan piece being replayed it really a bad thing. If anything UM recently has been an afterthought on a national stage and maybe this kind of coverage can bring help bring us back into the national picture.
Or maybe its just a love affair with Urban and they're just trying to fill time because everyone knows watching NFL draft coverage is waste of time and everyone cringes when Todd McShay attempts to act like he understand football and knows what he is talking about. Who knows...
Andre Ware's "analysis" was some of the worst on-screen football commentary I've ever heard.
