OT: Herbstreit Leaves Twitter, Citing Buckeye Fans
Sounds like Herbstreit has really been feeling the heat for his comments about Tressel! I feel like leaving Twitter altogether is a bit drastic, but I suppose OSU fans have perfected trolling into an art form.
In an interview with WGFX 104.5 The Zone in his new hometown of Nashville on Thursday, Herbstreit says it was "asinine" he had to defend his allegiance to the Buckeyes. Herbstreit has questioned how coach Jim Tressel can keep his job amid allegations of lying to the NCAA.

This is why I purposely drive around Ohio, even if it's 6 hours out of my way.
I'm driving from Ann Arbor to Atlanta tomorrow to start an internship, and I'm really not looking forward to the drive through Ohio. Far and away the worst part of the drive... So boring and ugly
And the speed limit drops in Ohio as well, and don't get me started on their police.
But every time I have to drive through OH, I throw my M helmet magnets on each door. It would be especially sweet needling during TresselFest
They just raised the speed limits on the turnpike to 70. Havent driven I75 yet so i don't know if they increased that one too but going horizontally you can travel faster.
Still sucks down here tho......
I drive i75 by toledo everyday and it's still the same.. toledo cops feel that they need to bust michigan drivers on 75 more than they need to patrol the ghetto.
People joke about OSU fans all being truckdrivers, but that's literally all there is on the roads in Ohio.
As an Ohio driver who neither drives a truck nor roots for the Buckeyes, I'm going to have to suggest you rethink your use of the word "literally."
And not only that, they make you PAY to drive through the shittiest stretch of road in the nation. Like I actually want to be in your state. Make me pay to get out, that makes more sense.

Judging by the way a majority of the cars with Michigan plates drive here in Florida...I am willing to bet many Ohioans wish all Michiganders would do the same.

But I don't have Michigan plates. Assumptions. Boom.
I realize I was making a sweeping generalization here, however, what does the fact that you do not have Michigan plates on your vehicle have to do with a comment about people from Michigan (as determined by the plates on the cars in Florida) being some of the worst drivers I have seen? If you did not learn to drive in the state of Michigan, feel free to proceed with your Assumptions. Boom. However, if you are not from Michigan, please understand that the comment really didn't address you directly.
To the board in general, just because you don't like one school in a state or some of its most boisterous fans doesn't free you up to criticize all of the citizens or natives of that state. This is just more of the reasons why there are plenty of people all over the country that think our fanbase is the worst in the country...arrogant crybabies..or something to that effect. Where would the University of Michigan football program be without the players and coaches that were citizens of Ohio?
And here I was thinking that New Jersey was the armpit of America....I am a victim of propaganda!!
my 7 year old just asked me why I was laughing, by myself, in the living room. hahahaa
Maybe if you Floridians learned how to pick up the pace a little bit while you're on your way to the early bird special at Perkins, there wouldn't be a problem!
Does anyone else feel like the wheels are really beginning to fall off down there.
problem with the ' nuts is that their lack of sports class is catching up to them. Yes, it worth a double-post.
problem with the bucknuts is that their lack of sports class is catching up with them.
to like Herbstreit?
Like Chris Spielman, Herbie would have fit very well into the University of Michigan had he made a better choice of schools. He has, for the most part, been a credit to his profession. That's why TSIO fans hate him so much. I'm starting to like him more and more every day.
Herbie is one of the better announcers out there, and I think he does a decent job of being impartial. Let's face it, if we were announcers, it would be hard not to lean toward Michigan if we were calling a maize 'n blue game. I think he deserves a lot of credit. It must sting a little to have all the bucknuts attack him for just stating his viewpoint.
Herbie...search your feelings, and make the journey to the BLUE SIDE.
I have to disagree. I think he is decent on gameday, but when he calls a game it always sounds like he is shouting. When he and musberger call a game I almost have to mute the television.

have seen the field at Michigan.
that Buckeye fans cannibalize their own.

We need more Marines yo.
Michigan Football and StarCraft in one thread?! *JOY*

But to be entirely fair it isn't like we haven't done our own fair share of it lately, though running a coach out of town is not the same as turning on a former qb for making tOSU look bad...by being reasonable.
I live in Ohio and they are eating each other alive. If you think the vest should be fired you get treated like a Michigan fan. What kills me is all heard for years was how dirty Meyer is and what a cheat he is and now he is going to be OSU's next coach. lol fucking dummies down here
Meyer will look clean in comparison to the vest.
that people take this stuff way too seriously.
"I feel like leaving Twitter altogether is a bit drastic..."
I'd consider moving to avoid a your alma mater's fans a bit drastic and leaving Twitter to be a step up in the world.

Thank you sir, I'd rather not should a Twitter become available. For those who appreciate the best in communication, Granny Goose potatoe chips. Twitter.

much of a problem with Herbie(excluding Les Miles sitty) anyway, guy knows his CF and he makes Brents 3.5 hours of tv time worth keeping off mute. I never thought he was an over the top Bucky honk even as an Alumni. Thats what makes Bucky fan so great, they can't see beyond the blinders installed at birth. Haters gonna hate......FREE JT

I saw the same kind of blind loyalty from IU hoops fans after Bobby Knight choked out Neil Reed, threw a flower pot at a 70 year old secretary, and screamed at some freshman who said "What's up Knight?" The excuses that Knight was "repositioning" Reed on the floor with his hand around Reed's neck sound awfully close to "really officer, I was just helping that sheep over the fence."
I propose a trade with the SEC. we'll give them tOSU and sparty in exchange for Georgia and Vanderbilt. They take our criminals and cheaters and also recieve two competant basketball programs.
Oh the irony of spelling "competent" incorrectly
I think Herby's comments about blind loyalty to Tressel were off base. Most OSU fans I know want Tressel out...and are anxious for some big name replacement like Meyer or Stoops (though no guarantee that'll happen).
The last time i noticed a tweet from Herby, he was defending desmond from an "asinine' buckeye fan.
I live in OSU land down here in columbus. I understand his want to get out as far as the fandom issues are concerned.
I honestly am starting to feel bad for Herbstreit... He backed up Desmond on Twitter and he's just trying to be objective on a show that consists of him keeping a neutral base. All the bucknuts are turning on him and his family has felt threatened. Nobody should have to live a life like that.
although unperfect, a great athlete and relatively objective person. Man I hate those punks in Columbus.
