2011 Season Tix!
State at their place two years ago. I was talking to one of their fans who had chairbacks as part of their season ticket package. They told me the thing they liked the best was that it guaranteed them their seat space. I can't count the number of times I've felt squished in my seat in the Big House.
Congrats on getting the season tix. Mine were made official a couple of years ago, and I still remember the evening I found out like it was yesterday.
I was also thinking about getting that cushion. I don't want to be a poon, since it's not for my sore butt or anything. But staking a claim to my actual seat location sounds very nice.
this is my first year with alumni tickets, and i just received my congrats letter yesterday as well.
i was so happy, my wife asked me if i was happier than the day i was accepted to michigan!!
to tell ya the truth, i was. i knew id get accepted, but wasnt sure id get these tickets. ;-)

Welcome to the club! I'm a 18 year season ticket holder who finally decided to try and upgrade my seats. So i wrote a fairly fat check to pump up my points and requested an u better location (in section 5 right now). Problem is they don't tell you if you've got them until August when the tickets actually arrive. So you wait and hope.
details? What were your points? How long were you on the waitlist and how much did you donate this year vs other years?
57 points going in and scrathed a 1,500 donation for my two seats in row 61 and 90 points and a $2,500 donation for my 4 in row 33. Asked for any movement towards the 50 (section 5 is endzone - visitors) as long as I was above row 15.
Why...can you help?
It helps the rest of us. Hoke has increased the level of tix interested especially on this board. There are many new waitlisters who have a difficult time understanding the tix process.
If we all post our points/donations/time on wait list etc, it will help others where they have to be in order to obtain tix.
To expand on this: there are points given for donations to the Athletic Department, the University at Large, years of continuous support, degree(s) from the UM, and I think whether you were once a letterman on a sports team. It is pretty transparent, and I would second the advice posted elsewhere:
1. Giving above the minimum (even $100-$250) surprisingly helps because the difference between sitting at the 5 yard line and 30 yard line has a huge spread. Some of the people in the central zones have huge numbers of points, but that pool of supporters to some degree moved out by the opening of the boxes and the club and backed chairs, so there is room to expand.
2. As I get older, having a seat starts to matter more :)
Not sure how the pad bench seats would work; I guess it would be worth it if it helped you stake out your "posterior" space and means one less thing to carry into the stadium.
AD doesnt list how many points plus donation = XX number of seats in the YY section.
So, mlas27, if this is your first year and you got 2 in the valient section, how many points do you have and how much did you donate?
Treetown, the same question to you. How many years on waitlist, how much did you donate this year and how many points do you have?
I was undergrad and grad school here so in the early days got tickets through that source. Later got tickets through the alumni association for about 5 years before taking the plunge and joined the Victors for the minimal amount. Ended up with a pair in Section 42, (roughly 5 yard line, the first straight section before the curve) and about half way down. So great sightlines when the action is at this end, not so good at the other end. Now those seats are up in section 44 which took about a $250 bump to reach the next tier. Added a pair of chair backs when they became available because I'm just getting too creaky in the knees and hips. It was initially daunting when I looked into the point totals but there have been a lot of people who've been season ticket holders for decades.
Current priority point total is 500 which might be discouraging but that is from about 20 years worth of effort so I'm helped by a long "past athletic donations" and "university donation" tail. Keep at it and gradually you'll accumulate points. Remember donations to the University also count, although not at the same rate as athletic donations, so giving to LSA or Engineering isn't ignored. The points are roughly:
1 point for current athletic donation (per $100), 1 point historical athletic donation (per $100), 1 point historical university donation (per $1000), 1 point ticket loyalty (consecutive season ticket holder), 5 points (UM degree), 10 points (UM letterwinner), 1 point marching band donation (per $100). Minimum of $100 to keep Victors Club active. I think there are some details and limits - so I don't think having a BS, MA and PhD gets you 15 points. Go to the UM athletic web site for more details.
Clearly there are advanges and disadvantages. Cons: takes time and patience, Pros: makes you appreciate long term excellence and not freak out as much for a single bad season, although the past three were pretty tough. Also rewards steady giving over time and while you can plop down a big donation, smaller amounts over time actually help you and allow you more flexibility. That stretch from Carr - Mo - Last half of Bo was pretty sweet in retrospect.
Never was wait listed - from my limited experience, I think if you take the plunge you won't be wait listed long, your initial seats just might not be that good. It could be in the endzone or curve. The advice listed about the tiers seems accurate - once you achieve a certain tier, you might be able to advance up a bit here and there, but the real improvements come from bumping into the next tier.

I was on the waitlist for about a year and a half... Not an Alum, but the wife is... Found out if I sent in my marriage license I'd be rewarded the 5 points for the degree. I then donated $100 and was offered 2 in the endzone. Now, I'm sorta wondering if I would've donated $200 I woul've been offered 4???? Gettin greedy aren't I?
your data. I doubt another $100 would have been enough to get you 4. I know that the required points seem to be about 4-6 for 2 in the enone.
One poster gave $300 last year and received 2 in the Blue section. So I am sure that the scale has slid up from last year with all the new energy injected into the program.

I have 4, 2 in section 6 and 2 in section 12. I want to get to 6 total and have them together, so I really upped the donation this year to $2500. I am still waiting to hear from the athletic dept. on this. I received my renewals, but it said nothing about the new season tickets requested. Did anyone else that currently has season tickets ask for additional seats? How long does it take to find out, I assume I won't have to wait until August.
I called this week and asked the same question cause I'm trying to move mine. They said they wouldnt know for a while but when I get my tickets in August I'll find out.
So basically you write a check and hope.

I few years back I had 2 in the Southern End Zone and two in the Northern. When I renewed my tickets I just wrote a note asking if it was possible to get all 4 together. I did not make any additional donation. When my tickets arrived in August I had 4 in section 36 (Northern end zone).
me sending in more than a $100 donation would've upset the wife a bit! HA! She's under the belief that because she's paid the University tens of thousands for her degree, that we should'nt have to donate more to be given the oppourtunity to purchase tickets! Hey, it's a good thought, but wishful thinking on her part!
An alum who finally decided to try to get off the wait list w/ a $2500 donation. First time making a donation as we had been content buying season tix from someone else.
FIngers crossed I guess. Hope it's enough. Hopefully it's in the mail in the next few days!

You will for sure get tickets because the points don't matter as much as what tier you are in. Someone could have 100 points and you could have 0 but because you will be in a higher donation tier you get the first offer.
I just received notice that I have 2 renewable season tickets as well. Like the other one said it does feel like Christmas.
I wanted to let you know that according to the letter inside my envelope they will offer you 4 tickets in the Valiant section with your donation. I am sure you will see it in the mail soon.
For the others wondering I put my name on the waitlist 7 month ago and donated for the first time this past December. I gave $300 and received my tickets. I know they were holding inventory for the past few seasons due to the construction so I am sure they had extra inventory this season to burn through the wait list.
I still have my 'Congrats' letter from 2009.
I did get the seat pads like everyone else said, just to hold the actual space of my seats.
Cost is $32 per seat, but brochure did say that the price will go up (I think it said after Aug 1st).
I did check out IMG's website about seats and if I were to guess, I'd say they will eventually ban seat pads in the future because IMG does game day rentals at other stadiums.
I'm going wait a year on the pads to see how this all works out. Candidly I dont sit very much during the game so having a nice comfy pillow for my tush is pretty useless.
But I could see where the "down in front" crowd are going to LOVE them!
Does anyone know why when I log onto my account on mgoblue and hit the season renewals link it says application for new season football tickets? It says quantity 2 and additional items cushion lease. This was my first year donating and I haven't gotten anything in the mail. This doesn't mean i was offered renewable tickets right?
Yes it sounds like you've been offered season tix - I'm a season ticketholder and that's how I renew every year.
Couldn't you renew starting on the 25th of this month? If so does it affect my seat location waiting until today to renew? You know like first come first serve kinda thing.
not sure if the online application specifically says where your seats are. If it does have a specific location, it should not matter when you renew. If it does not, if could but I'm not positive.
I believe the deadline to complete is May 13th.

Thats the same thing I experienced.... I was sent the letter and "application" in the mail, and the letter stated that I had the option of taking care of everything online. So yes, the application for season tickets you see online is stating that you've been offered the 2 seats.
based on your post, I checked my account and PRESTO, I was offered (what I think) is season tickets. I went ahead and and placed the order and it went through.
So I think this is legit. There was no seat location listed. I donated $500 this year for the first time. That gave me 5 points.
Yeah I donated the exact amount that you did $500. Mine doesn't show seat locations either. But it does let me pay for 2 seats.

I started my account when I first bought single game public tickets. From that same account you can get on the season ticket waitlist and renew.
Anyone can setup an account on MGoBlue.com, I had my account before I had season tickets. Before you have season tix, you can click on renewals and nothing shows up. Once I did get season tix, then that section would have something in there.
account from buying softball, hockey and basketball tickets. I always bought my tix on the secondary market. This way I could change up my seats for every game. But I with all the changes (suites, asile widening, holding seats back, non-renewals due to RR) that this year is the best year to apply.
I suspect (but could be wrong) that the next few years will be difficult to get season tickets. Then if Hoke wins a few keys games, almost impossible.
I guessed correct. Again, I waitlisted in Dec10 and donated $500 in Jan11. I checked my account and it gave me the option to buy 2 renewables. It does not show which section. If I get in the Blue at about row 35 or so, I will be happy. I did not receive a letter yet.
Although I have to say I pulled a hammy jumping with excitement. Now Im sore.

<br> If you are in a higher giving tier for that year ($500-$999 tier vs $100-$499 tier) you will get the better offer and the first offer. You could have 100 points but and give $100 and get beat by someone with 5 points who gave $500 or more to get Ina higher tier. GET IN A HIGHER TIER
I can not stress enough how much I hate all of you with season tickets. I'm extremely jealous.
Counting my blessings. I think I was in the last graduating class that just got tickets without being wait-listed if they wanted them (if not, it was the class after me). All the time, money and effort put into it now. I feel for y'all. Makes paying for my tickets a little less painful in this economy knowing my rationalization of an "investment" isn't such a rationalization.
I currently go to Carnegie Mellon but i grew up in ann arbor so i'm a maize and blue fanatic and lacking a real college team to root for (go tartans) i had to do something.So I got one of my friends to find someone who didn't want tickets (dumb) and offer them 300 for them. Then i gave one of my friends the money so he could get a new M card and he gave me his old one and voila for $325 i got season tickets in the best section possible. I think i'm only gonna make it back for three games (ND, Neb, OSU) so i'm gonna sell the rest.
p.s. just kidding i don't feel bad at all
