Woodson Day

Submitted by aawolverine on

This Thursday has been declared Woodson Day at Mott's Children's Hospital, in honor of the many good works of Mr. Charles Woodson. From annarbor.com:

"Woodson will receive the first Mott Champions for Children Award at 10:30 a.m. Thursday and then visit patients on "Woodson Day" at Mott. Woodson donated $2 million to Mott in 2009 as part of The Charles Woodson Clinical Research Fund. Woodson and former Mott patient Max Merget will throw out the first pitch Wednesday at the Detroit Tigers-Seattle Mariners game."

EDIT: If someone could tell me how to make those nice yellow boxes for quotes, I would appreciate it.

I'm going to sit in a lawn chair with my Woodson jersey on and drink gin to celebrate Woodson day.

Well deserved!! I love Mr. Woodson. Named my Doberman after him and #2 is my favorite number. What a great Michigan man. God, I wish we could get a corner with his skill set again.

I've never heard or read about Woodson having any children.  I hope so, because he is doing such great things for the kids at Motts that he should be having kids of his own too.  There cannot be many better ways to spend money than on a children's hospital.  Kudos to Woodson - this honor is well-deserved!

I work in clinical research and can tell you how incredibly important his donation is.  This honor is so richly deserved--I love hearing stories about Michigan football alums continuing to do great things (without the self-promotion!)

Feel like it ought to be 2/21 in honor of his jersey #s in Ann Arbor and Green Bay.

He obviously deserves the honor (and then some), but I can't help think it would be more impactful if done during the school year, rather than the tail end of final exams when fewer students are around.

and Super Bowls is one thing, a donation that size is another. Doing all of it without making it about himself is just incredible. Way to go.
