Quick someone who isn't working right now do a quick search on "TomVH" and "weird feeling" to see what former recruits he said the same thing about, and that way we can get a better idea of what he means.

New level of stalking.

Great!

However, I feel like he might have used it for D'Anthony Arnett as well.  Can anyone confirm?  "Odd" might be the word he chose then.  I think it in general means "toss up between us and another school".

(yes I know I am posting a lot for someone who is working)

Yes but to be fair as I look at that, he said he had a weird feeling in spite of the fact that other sources had told him Michigan. Implying that his weird feeling was that he was not sure.

Conclusion: All we can draw from this is that we're all just a little sad.

I am not a little sad. I also am not sure why anyone else here is a little sad. We haven't lost Pike so there is no need to act like we have. Even if Pike does choose another school, its April 18th not January 31st. Lots of time and no need for panic.

Not sad as in sad if we don't get him.

Sad as in we care so much about where this kid goes to that we're doing google searches to find when Tom last used a certain phrase to see if it has any bearing whatsoever on what this kid's decision might be.

In that sense, yeah we're all a little sad.

but there are two reasons why Michigan would make more sense than Auburn IMO:

  1. Auburn runs the spread and emphasizes their QBs' ability to run, whereas Michigan wants to runt he pro-style.  Auburn could always switch adapt to his abilities, but he seems like he fits what Michigan wants to do more than what Auburn wants to do offensively.
  2. Auburn has Kiehl Frazier coming in this fall, who is a dual threat QB and could very well be their starter by year's end.  I would think it would be easier for Pike to come in and beat out Bellomy (even though I think Bellomy has a lot of potential) than to beat out Frazier in a system more favorable to Frazier's skill set.

I understand people say it must be Audburn because of the timing..But couldn't you look at the other side of the coin, and say that he just took his visit and decided Michigan for him?? Or does the internet not work in that manner?

Pike may have been in SEC country last week, but Kaleb Ringer was in his ear about coming to Michigan. I do not know why everyone is so defeatist this morning. We have a lot of things working in our favor.

There's always the chance that after getting to UGA and Auburn, Pike realized things just weren't looking any better at any school than M, and he didn't see the point in prolonging.

It's gotta be Auburn considering the timing. Wasn't there a rumor Pike verbaled this weekend? Also TomVH's cryptic does nit sound good. It's not the typical "you should tune in" cryptic. It's the "I'm dumbfounded because he was really high on UM and now all of a sudden he's going o Auburn, the land of future NCAA sanctions" type of cryptic.

and decided, like many on this board, that QB was a problem here.  I think that's very incorrect, but he may have come to the conclusion that Denard and DG are spread guys and we need a passer quick.

I heard the Auburn rumor this weekend, but TomVH brought me back to 50-50.  Great that one of the top guys in the country is looking at us, anyway.

This kind of sounds like you're ready to write off both Denard and Gardner after one bad spring game - which occurred after both of them had gone through a grand total of 15 practices in a completely new offense.

Maybe you think Denard's too short and doesn't have the pocket feel to be truly successful away from a spread system.  There may end up being truth to that, but it's sure as hell too early to tell.  But if you can't see any potential for Gardner to thrive in a pro system, I don't even know what to tell you.

Means I don't think that's correct.  As in not correct to think that way.  Correct, not... No.

I am an enormous supporter of both Denard (for 2 more years) and DG.  I chuckle at the freak out after the spring game performance - Borges will adapt, and Denard will thrive.  I think DG will be special as well.

Besides, Denard isn't much shorter than Troy Smith, if at all, or even Drew Brees.  You don't have to be 6-4 in college.  Also, it's the coaching staff's job to figure out a way to take advantage of a talent like Denard.  I'm sure they will figure out what works by September.

Just kidding.

I think we have a shot.  I think it might be even between us and Auburn, actually.  I agree, with the timing Auburn has to be favored slightly,  We shall see...I would love PIke, but frankly, this is not the make-or-break recruit in this class.  I think there are others, like Wormley, which are much bigger needs.

I think the timing works in Michigan's favor. After watching the subpar performance of the QB's at the Spring Game, Pike may have seen an opportunity for early playing time. Hoke may have also added more urgency to his recruiting pitch.

Vague, yet suggestive post from TomVH? Ummmm yeah, if you've been on this site for any time at all, you know we have a good shot with Pike. My prediction has now changed.

Did Pike tell Tom that he plans on visiting Michigan a few more times when Tom spoke to him about that 7on7 incident? Tom, can you confirm this?

My heart is telling me Pike's going to Michigan. Chris Barnett is a good friend of his, he's spoken highly of us since his visit, and I feel like he realized the other schools don't compare to the Maize and Blue.

I nervously await his decision.

while i appreciate your optimism, there is clearly a bias in the way your framing the facts. pike has spoken highly of several of the schools he's visited. the fact that he immediately set a decision date after auburn could just as easily suggest that auburn blew him away. obviously i hope your right, but we are all just speculating until wednesday, or until we all start buying Tom shots and he gets drunk enough to spill the beans
