Michigan athletes playing football at Ohio State
Everyone knows about some of the greats like Charles Woodson, Desmond Howard, and tons of other Michigan football players that have come from the buckeye state. My question is this, do a lot of Michigan high school players go down to Ohio St. to play football or have there been some signifigant Ohio State players that have come from Michigan? I just never hear of any. It seems that more players come here to play than we have go down there. I don't know, maybe Ohio players don't feel as traiterous to come play for us as Michigan players would feel going to Ohio state to play. Maybe I'm wrong.
Vernon Gholston, for one.
Vernon Gholston, like the other guy said.
a bad thing.
The dude won games, I'd take him.
That asshole went to Henry Ford II here in Utica I found out not too long ago. When we were walking into their gym for our game I seen his jersey up on the wall. Traitor.
Or the hundreds of Ohioans who've played for UM?
Krenzel's not a traitor to Michigan, and the Ohio athletes (and future coaches) who come to Michigan aren't either.
But it's OK to betray the bad guys. Just not the other way around.
Is a kid really a "traitor" if we didn't seriously pursue him?
Boren?
edit: Next time I'll read the whole sentence.
the kid is definitely a traitor
You "seen" it, huh? Was there anything else of his that you "seen"?
He won a national championship as a junior and 11 games as a senior (and that was without a running game).
is in the same confernence as Utica. I saw Craig play 3 years straight in the MAC. I never thought he was a good QB then nor do I think he is now.
Rumor has it that he wanted to play for Michigan but we already were loaded at the QB position
On average there are many more top level football players coming from Ohio than Michigan. So there is more of an opportunity for players from Ohio to come to U of M than there is for Michigan players to go to OSU
Also, there are two Big Ten schools in Michigan, so fewer players end up leaving the state in the first place. I suppose Cincinnati could change the equation in Ohio now that they're in the Big East, but for the time being, they aren't a big recruiting force.
Pepper Johnson was an All-American out of Detroit in the mid-'80's.
Dionte Allen just transferred to OSU, didn't he? He went to OLSM, IIRC.
Zeke Pike ejected from 7v7 for throwing ball at an official. First I've seen that
I'm not fond of officials either
Was it in Paul Crewe/Adam Sandler fashion?
as long as it wasn't the untalented gay mexican fashion from the same movie
It wasn't his fault the popcorn made his fingers slippery.
"Paul Crewe/Burt Reynolds fashion".

Reid Fragel. He is a TE for OSU, and he is gonna be a big part of the O this year (supposedly).
The one guy from my high school to play I-A football....
Whatever, we still got Chris Getz.

....who drove in two runs against the Tigers today :(
At least he's off the White Sox though.
six players from Michigan on its roster: TE Reid Fragel (Grosse Pointe Farms); DL Johnathan Hankins (Dearborn Heights); WR James Jackson (Grand Ledge); WR Taurian Washington (Orchard Lake); DB Dionte Allen (Detroit); and DB Aaron Gant (Detroit).
Seven if you count Boren.
This year we have three: Allen, Fragel, and Hankins.
That Hankins played at Southeastern.
recently left the team.
What's the story behind that?
I think he had trouble getting in even during garbage time.
I believe he quit football altogether and is still enrolled at Ohio State.
From what I saw of him in high school, I didn't think he was that great anyways.
What about the fat kid NT we recruited last year> His name escapes me...
You're thinking of Hankins, from Southeastern.
Hankins is the most notable recent signee. Was extremely disruptive last year in limited PT and poised for a big year this season.
Yeah, what a pathetic episode from the 2010 recruiting cycle: "Michigan's half-assed recruitment of Johnathan Hankins."
MSU didn't bother offerring him a scholarship. He was out of shape, period and coaches don't want to take on players who are out of shape and lazy. It was completely justified.
It's still too early to see if Hankins become a player because if he can't get into shape for MSU/Michigan to get a scholarship, I doubt that he would be in shape to play 40 snaps a game.
as a "Michigan High School"?

The coaches at Ohio State have so much talent to choose from in Ohio that they don't feel the need to go after many Michigan kids.

Came from the same high school as Desmond (Cleveland Villa Angela St. Joseph).
