Michigan Hockey: National Championship Game Open Thread
9/10 hours to gametime? Niiice!
54 minutes?
Early.
too early for a national championship game
Since they're not playing it for over 8 hours, they've determined that this is, in fact, too early for a National Championship game.
....thread
Well, in THAT case....go for it.
I'm going to Northside Liquor this afternoon. Someone suggest some beers for me to pick up (but I don't like IPAs and super-dark beers).
Narrow it down a bit, and I think we can help/
I like Belgian beers, I like Irish reds, and most wheat beers. I'm not picky -- as long as it isn't thick as molasses, I'm up for trying it.
Matilda is one of my favorites, if you like belgian beers there's that and Sofie. I'd also highly recommend the Great Lakes Dortmunder Gold; that's definitely drinkable enough for a long session.
I'd also try the Dogfish Head India Brown Ale. It's nothing like an IPA, it's a little on the sweeter side and not bitter at all. They put a couple tasting notes on the bottle if you want to see. But definitely the Dortmunder Gold, that's what I went with for the Super Bowl and it didn't let me down.
Pick up some cold, wet ones. They are my favorite kind.
is scarcely a One at all!
+1 for the Homestar Runner reference. Haven't seen one of those in a good while!
My friend brewed a beer that he called "Moose Slobber". Hmm. Maybe on to something here.
Here's a fake point back if it helps.
I wish I could get it in the midwest, all I ever hear is how good that stuff is.
I'm from about 45 minutes south of the Wisconsin border. Maybe I'll make it up one day.
Have you ever had Tyranena? They're out of Wisconsin (no idea how far west they distribute) and their Brewers Gone Wild series is incredible. Shaggin' in the Woods Scotch Ale is definitely my favorite beer of all time. Now that I think of it I'll have to crack one open for todays game.
here in chicago has it on tap. never tried it though.
Sorry dude, that was me -- I honestly thought that you were being sarcastic, and thought there was no way that a beer was called Moose Drool. I've switched it to a +1 -- and unfortunately there's no moose drool in A2.

Ok, now no one post ANYTHING new on the board all day so this can stay at the top.
If I asked you to solve 48 / 2 (3 + 9) ...
the answer to all math problems today is 5'7. So 48 / 2 ( 3 + 9) = 5'7.
Hmm. We could have all math problems come out to +1. That might be an important number today too.
It's a Molson Ice day in El Paso, baby! We in the 'Ship!
I'm going to be a huge lazyass today in anticipation of this game. Going to the store soon to prepare for an all day grill session.
a documentary of Ricky "the Dragon" Steamboat
I am with aaamich on this one. I am thinking Braut's and Chicago Char Dogs.
I have a fillet of salmon that brined over night, waiting to go on the smoker. I'm making a something called a Potato Cake that I saw on FoodTV this morning, and will also serve some sort of lettuce wrap. Aside from that, there's not much else I'm going to do while waiting for the big game.

Are you the poster formerly known as Due51? Or just some other guy with that same avatar?

When was the last time we won a hockey NC?
in 1998
Not a lot happening--and our battered athletic program has a team that is playing for a NAYSHINAL CHAMPIONSHIP in one of the Big 4 sports! Holy cow, gents--stop being so GD pretentious and have some fun with this!
Favorite post of this thread so far: The guy who said all math problems equal 5'7.
The sheer genious of that post seems to have been lost on petty arguments about the timing of a thread that NEEDS to be out there!
I mean, we all talk about all the Harruumph Harrumph tradition of the football team--let's not forget UM's hockey team sets the standard for greatness in that sport as well. UM hockey is the Gold Pants Standard.
It's just that this thread is going to get lost on the board come game time, and it will have like 3 million posts before the game even starts. Maybe a pre-game thread would have been better, but it isn't a big deal. I can roll with this.
Possibly, but so what?
Brian hasn't pulled out the Liveblog for this?
That picture is amazing! 100,000+ fans in the Big House for a hockey game in December.
memories I have of being in live crowds
That is a very beautiful picture indeed.
I'm at work. :( What's the score?
Lloyd Brady is winning 10-0
