TomVH: 2013 QB Shane Morris Offered

Submitted by TomVH on

Warren De La Salle QB Shane Morris (6'3", 183 lbs) was offered by Michigan this morning. You can check out his sophomore highlights here. He's in the 2013 class so this is way early, but he already has verbal offers from Michigan, Bowling Green, Cincinnati, and Toledo. He's supposed to be one of, if not the top prospects in Michigan next year.

The offer came this morning. We called Coach Jackson and talked to him and Coach Borges. They said that they'd love for me to be the quarterback at Michigan, and that they want me to come there.

Morris was up for the Tom Lemming photo shoot on Saturday and also got to take in practice.

I had to leave early, but I got to watch practice. Everything looked good. I actually saw a lot, I went to practice last year and everything is a lot different. It's real upbeat and it's more of the traditional Big Ten football, which is good. I'm going out to MSU's spring practice on Friday, and I'll sit down with Coach Dantonio. I've also been talking to a coach from Stanford.

It's too early to even talk about decisions or timelines with him but Shane is just trying to take everything in for now.

I'm just staying humble, and I'm not satisfied with everything. I want to keep getting better. I'm really keeping my mind open to see where I fall in love. I don't want to say I'm a pro style quarterback because I can run too. Michigan is running a lot of stuff under center, but keeping some of the other stuff from last year which is the best of both worlds really. My dad is a football coach and that's the offense he likes to run too.

I should also point out that Morris and his family are all Michigan fans.

that when you have a kid who should be disposed to play for Michigan, and you think he has the talent to play there, you get on him early, make him feel good about the school, and stay on him for the duration.  I look forward to the day in a year or two when Michigan's reputation has been re-established and we have half the class locked up early instead of scrambling at the end to fill spots.

This is the QB I want more than any other out there. Unbelievable, ever since I saw his sophomore film. I sort of feel bad, like I'm turning into an SEC fan, because of my interest in this kid coming to Michigan...

against Devin and Inkster in the state semi game in 2009.  I didn't know he was a freshman while watching the game but thought he had a good arm and was good in the pocket.  Then somebody told me he was 14 years old.  I'll be sure to hit a few of his games this fall.

My football team played against De La Salle my freshman year of high school. They were up 42-0 by halftime before they put on the brakes for a 50-0 win. They were so much bigger, it was ridiculous.

Yes, that is very optimistic of you.  However, even the realist approach is quite positive - if we don't get an elite QB in this class, we have an even better shot at snagging the elite QB in our backyard.

If Morris sees that in the two classes ahead of him UM signed a 3 star QB, he'll be even more likely to jump on board, knowing he has a very good shot at being a multi-year starter for the home team.

watched his highlights and he seems to throw effortlessly and with great touch. his deep ball seems to glide pretty well too, and as a soph in hs throwing the football is as much about natural talent as it is taught talent. i think as a thrower he will only get better and stronger.

only critique is in the highlights (havent seen him run..just in highlight film) his runs were not very impressive, but moving away from a running qb he seems to fit exactly what M should be looking for. hopefully he stays in state and plays in AA, wish him luck his final 2 years.

Shane is a wonderful quarterback! But we all know that without a good offensive line its pointless to dwell over him! So we should work on getting the 4 lineman out of Cass Tech! David Dawson, Aaron Sumner, and Dennis Finley! Dawson started all 13 games for cass tech! Sumner and Finley didn't start this year but has balled out at the camps they have been too! At 6'7 280- Finley, 6'5 305- Dawson and 6'4 295- Sumner they're gonna be massive! So we need to show them someove but I wod definately say offer dawson ithe up coming months he is a good overall lineman good in pass blocking and can get very nasty and aggresive in the run-game! Can't wait to see them this camp season and the season opener against Harrsion!
