Mallett should have stayed for his senior season. I only watched a couple of his games, but it was clear that he fell apart under pressure. If he was able to improve on his ability to read a defense quickly, he'd probably be a first round or early second round pick.

Who knows where he will get drafted, but if it were in fact to the Dolphins he would have every opportunity to overtake Henne, who has been underwhelming and inconsistent in the NFL thus far.

He may be given a chance to compete with Henne, but if you look back at the numbers Henne wasn't too bad when he wasn't being sacked/hurried.  He passed at 61.4% for 3301 yards with 15 TDs in 15 games.  Problem was, he threw 19 INTs and was sacked 30 times.  Combine a bad offensive line with the #21 ground game (averaging 102/game), you're not going to win a ton of games.  Henne was so-so, but he needed a better O-line and better ground game, let alone a better coach and overall team.

I think Mallett probably has the skill set to succeed in the NFL (though I'd have to agree with joeyb that he doesn't handle pressure well), but skills alone aren't enough. There are plenty of QBs with the skill set to succeed. I'm anticipating Mallett's going to have plenty of personality/character problems derail his career.

And that is scary.

I'll purchase shares of Ryan Mallet stock ahead of shares of Cam Newton, or Tyrod or TerrelI(TATS for rings)Pryor.  The tools to be a capable NFL quarterback, in order of importance,  look something like this.

1. Intelligence

2. Work Ethic

3. Accuracy

4. Leadership

5. Deal with pressure(on and off field)

6.Arm strength

21. Good hair

38. Running ability
