Record Breaking Wolverines

Submitted by James Burrill Angell on

Apparently the Men's Basketball team set two records in today's thumping of the Creamsicles

1) Michigan's 75-45 win over Tennessee is the largest victory ever by an 8 seed in the Men's Basketball Championship, besting the previous record by 7 points. Of the 4 other 8 seeds to win a game by at least 20 points, 1998 Rhode Island and 2002 UCLA proceeded to knock off the region's top seed in the Round of 32.

2) Apparently Michigan held Tennessee to the lowest point total of any team in an NCAA Tournament game. Previous record was 49.

I was hoping for a win, didn't see this type of dominant performance coming.  Was interesting to watch UT come apart at the seams and eventually just quit.

I don't get TruTV, and I drank alot last night, and being on the West Coast, I completely missed this game.  But to be honest, I was VERY surprised that we blew Tennessee out that badly.  Surprised, but extremely happy.  I think we can give the Dukies more than they're going to expect.  Let's get the second biggest upset of the tourney! (Maybe biggest, but right now Morehead St. takes the cake).

Also, I like that JB seemingly played all his players for some minutes, just so they can say they were on the court for an NCAA Tourney game.  Classy stuff.

Not a record, but this has to be the first time in forever that Novak and Douglass combined for more points than Morris/Hardaway.  If someone had told me that would happen and we'd win by 30 . . . I'd have been just a hair skeptical.
