IMO, there's 33 locks to be at-larges (Colorado, PSU and Illinois included in that figure).

That leaves 4 spots for Alabama, BC, Clemson, Georgia, Saint Mary's, USC, VaTech or one of the other outliers.

My guess for the last four spots: Clemson, VTech, Saint Mary's and Georgia.

11 is better than 8, 9, or 10.  It's a marginally-more difficult first round match-up, but second-round match up is far more favorable.  There are 7-8 teams that Michigan probably cannot beat, and being an 11 stretches out the time in which Michigan would have to play them.

Or even a 12 if it doesn't involve "The First Four" in Dayton.

Methinks we can make the Sweet 16 if our path involves a (6,3) or a (5,4) combination.

While a 10-seed makes the first game easier, the second stop on that path (7,2) would likely be formidable.  I'd rather play that level of competition in the Sweet 16.

They've beaten St .John's and no one else.  Their entire case is based on the idea that the WCC is a good conference, even though it's not.

This is a gratifying day for the program. In the words of Bacari, HALOL on the rest of the college hoops world. This giant is now awake.

What a fun season, what a blast the last month has been.

Better days are ahead. But, this team is dangerous next week, regardless of draw.

I'm thinking an 11-seed. Playing 6th seed Xavier in Round One. Just like 1989

West Virginia...?

They wouldn't.....would they.....?

And OP, just a suggestion, but you may want to change your subject to Bracketology/Selection Show or something similar. We don't really need another thread in 40 minutes for the selection show.  But between the title (and the show on ESPN before it), and the fact that MGoBlog does not adhere to Daylight Savings Time, making it look like this thread has been up for over an hour, it's bound to happen.

about this year's Michigan team making it close to the NCAA tournament.  I underestimated how the three best players (Morgan, Hardaway and Morris) would develop.  They have done very well.

It is frustrating, however, to not beat a good team thus far.  Maybe in the tournament.  Is there any chance we are not in?

I hope Michigan comes down here to Dayton in the First Four so I can see them play again.

Lunardi's projection of us playing against West Virginia in the West Region worries me.  If we get by them we are going to have to play a very tough Texas team.  I would prefer drawing BYU in the 2nd round like he has MSU potentially doing.

Do you think it is more important to be a successful team in conference ala Wisconsin, but not as successful in the tournament.  Or would you rather see this team try to emulate Michigan State's recent run over the last 12 years with few conference championships but a lot of great tournament runs?  Personally I think the tournament is way more important than big ten championships, and yes I know we would like to do both.  If you had to chose, which would it be?
