I want Joe Lunardi's job!

Submitted by mGrowOld on

What does Joe Lundardi do between 6:45pm today and next February?  Once the brackets are announced isn't he basically done for the year?   I get Mel Kiper's "one trick pony" act cause the NFL draft has a pretty significant build-up prior to the draft itself but "bracketology" lasts about 3-4 weeks and then it's done until next season.

So what does he do when it's official?  Seems to me that the "work like hell for 30 days and then take the next 11 months off" is a pretty good job.  Where do I apply?

But he does put out a bracketology once a week when the bball season starts.

Maybe he and Mel Kiper are really the same person?

I figured this would be another one of those prosaic <<Ha, Lunardi is like a weatherman; get it, because they just make stuff up>> threads. Those never seem to end well--though, clearly, those ones get my traffic, too, because this one clearly did.

M beat Harvard, and not the other way around? He said it last night, and again this morning (as a rationale for Harvard still potentially receiving an at-large bid). None of the ESPN commentators corrected him, in either case.
<br>I'm new to all of this, having totally ignored BB for a decade, but this is extremely embarrassing for both Lunardi and ESPN, I mean, if we had lost to Harvard, our place in tourney would be significantly more in doubt, correct? So his off on both ends

He missed three of his real four bubble picks.

I wish I could get paid 6-figures to do something that doesn't really matter, and not even be good at it.

thread, but nobody on the planet saw VCU and UAB getting in over teams like VT and Colorado. Not Lunardi's fault that the tournament committee was high, when they made some of these decisions. Even some of the seeding, including us a 8th seed, was pretty shocking.

I explained who Lunadri is and what he does.  Then i explained that for all intents and purposes, he only works one month a year on something that is merely mindless entertainment, and he does not even have to be that good.  Just like Elvira and her Halloween gig.

I asked where I sign up for that job.  She wants to know how much he makes for doing what he does.  I said I didn't know, but I am sure that is more than what I make for working an entire year.

She did not get why anyone would pay anything at all for someone's guess about something that everyone will know in a couple of weeks.

I had no answer.  I just want that job.
