OT: 4 Auburn players arrested and kicked off team
Four Auburn players arrested and kicked off the team for robbery, burglary, and theft.

The players arrested in connection with this deeply troubling incident have been permanently dismissed from our football team. While we realize the legal process will run its course and these young men have a right for their case to be heard, playing for Auburn University is an honor and a privilege. It is not a right. - Chizik
Dantonio should read this.
I guess they weren't that good.
When you expect to kick some players off the team for being criminals you need to have replacements in the wings.
Sleazebag players. Sleazebag football program. Sleasebag University.
I guess the reason Dantonio doesn't kick his criminals out is because he can't sign 35 recruits every year.
Apparently one of them (McNeil) was a rising senior and recorded 14 tackles in the Nat Champ game. I am not sure where on the scale of stupidity this guy ranks, but I have a feeling he's earning somewhere between 4 and 5 stars.
I hope they rot in prison if this is true. A lot of things can be written off as dumb, juvenile mistakes (like the MSU arrests earlier); armed robbery is not one of them.
Lest we be too judgmental, who here hasn't committed armed robbery?
/crickets/
//more crickets//
///coyote howls///
Don't forget that "everyone kills people, murder people, steals from you steals from me."
They should appeal and cite Dantonio's frequent usage of his patented 12 strike policy.

Sparties at a bar, in a fight. Aspen Ski Trip gone angry?
Take to the slopes, Gents.
in a court of law by a jury of their peers after a fair and speedy trial.
Hope they can get a trial date before September 3.
their underage drinking, assualts and police evasions done in posh locales.
Early prediction: the way MD operates, they won't be held out of spring ball, and the only punishment they'll see is sitting out Youngstown St. and maybe FAU. Back for a full week of practice and on the field against Dame.
Coach Dantonio knows best! Let him handle everything internally.
Sparty hasn't had any armed robbers recently, have they? I thought it was mostly DUIs, bar/frat brawls, and fencing good stolen by others. So, step up?
I think the only surprise here is that Newton wasn't one of them. Would've only been sweeter if it was 4 kids from OSU:)
Is it bad that when I first heard this news i thought "Oh they've freed up a scholarship for Kris Frost"?
This incident ended the Fulmer Cup. 77 points!
indeed.
52 points higher than 2008 Alabama, the highest previous total
Auburn puts up on an off the gridiron

The BCS Title, Heisman Trophy and Fulmer Cup.
They're calling it the "Switzer Slam". I love it.
Honest question - does anyone know if these kids were any good?
You're point being that if they were good to great, Auburn's coach would have stalled for awhile so he could maybe figure out a way to maybe keep them? I think I see where you are going and given what we've seen at some schools the last couple years, I don't believe you are out of line at all.
One of them led the team in tackles during the MNC game, he was a starter in the secondary who was supposed to be a legit NFL prospect.
Good for Chizik.

The Newton thing I could *almost* see his stance.

Atleast he is doing the absolutely right thing here.
These kids are screwed. Just about the only way this could be any worse is if one of them killed a guy.
I mean, those are 4 people whose lives are just about over and people are asking if they were any good at football.
Make me the bad guy all you want, but the only reason this is being talked about on a sports blog is because these kids are football players. There's a reason we aren't talking about all the other accused armed robbers in the country right now.
Auburn University.......The Michigan State of the South.
They just won a national title and beat Alabama, the Spartons were beat to all hell by Alabama. And you could probably make that reference to any SEC/ACC team
Just Chizik's way of dealing with oversigning. I bet he even tipped off the police. At least he's more creative than Saban.

Is deserving for all of these 4 imbecils.

Only an imbecile would spell "imbecile" without an "e" on the end.

Well, this should take some pressure off their oversigning situation.
edit: oops, two posts too late
