RR is also unemployed and trying to find another job. No chance he says/does anything controversial. Doesn't want to end up like Mike Leach.

He did say he would of approached the player before sending it to compliance.

He also said there were programs not playing by the rules and he was pushed to give a name and said they are being looked at and that will come out soon.

He thought OSU recruited properly.

"As shocking as it seems, Big Ten recruiting is relatively clean."

I don't think that seems very shocking at all. I think the B10 and Big12 are far and away cleaner than the rest of the major conferences.

Yes, their fans are really f-ing annoying, and they get overated most years, but put your Michigan bias aside.  Nd is a fantastic school, with an incredible alumni network, a football tradition and history that matches ours, the campus is gorgeous, all their games are on national television, they have top facilities, they're playing a game in Ireland next season, and they have a fan base that is nationwide.  There are plenty of reasons that any player would want to go to ND.

and was just talking to a patient who is also a fellow Michigan fan.  I asked him what he thought and his response was along the lines of "If it's MSU, you can stop giving me that chemo shit.  I'll tell you what, that news would be the thing that cures me."

I couldn't stop laughing.

1.  I expect nothing controversial.  If RR has proven anything, he is a master of public coach-speak.

2.  RR and Tress are friends, I believe, so I doubly expect him to say nothing harsh.

3.  But man, if RR were to come out and say something along the lines of, "you know what, Colin, I am not surprised.  This is exactly what I expect of the smarmy school in Iowa - those guys are bastarts, I bhate them with all of my being, and I hope that the NCAA gives them the death penalty - cheating bastarts.  Let's see them beat their rivals without playing ineligable or compensated players."  Oh, how awesome it would be.

4.  MGoCommunity - let's please not find some excuse to turn this into a RR debate thread.

He said that there are some schools out there that recruit in a negative manner, but he did not throw out any of the names.  He did say some are being investigated currently and Colin said he thinks RR was referring to an SEC school and Oregon.

I understand RR didnt want to take a strong stance on this is if he returns to coaching this stance could have an effect upon what schools look at him to be their coach.

Is negative recruiting really a big deal?  Of course, it sucks to be the school getting shat upon, but seems like tons of schools likely do it.  I bet OSU gets a lot this year, "So son, whatd'ya hear in Columbus?  They think Tressel's gonna be around?  They gonna lose some scholarship or TV?  Crazy stuff, eh?"  I'm not saying it's the way I'd want Michigan to go about things, but it isn't unethical or an NCAA violation.

Also thought it weird that RR went so far to defend OSU.  He could have just said, "You know, I don't know enough about it, but I always thought they were above board."  Maybe he's just returning the favor from Tressel?

My guess is that RR just wants Clemson to underachieve next year rather than be hit with NCAA sanctions.

I'd be surprised if a school that "goes down" for major violations hires another coach with a history of violations (whether RR's were a big deal or not, they still exist).

Well, a school besides USC.

The NCAA will investigate and dole out the appropriate punishments. We're all hoping that that means OSU gets a visit from an analrapist, but if it doesn't well, whatever. It's not really our concern as M fans. We should be much more concerned with how our program is represented by current and former associates.

The most interesting thing that Rodriguez said is that we're going to be hearing more about these programs that recruit negatively against Michigan.  Some people speculate that he's Oregon or Auburn, but we haven't gone head to head against those two guys for enough recruits (and lost) for me to think that he's talking about them.  He sounds bitter, and that make sme I think that he's talking about Big Ten schools.  And everyone knows who the suspects are there.  Which makes me wonder what other news is going to break and why we're going to be hearing more about them.
