"The NFL Players Association annually recognizes players who go above and beyond to perform community service in their team cities and hometowns.

The Byron “Whizzer” White Award is the highest honor the NFLPA can bestow on a player. The award was established by the professional football players of America to acknowledge a debt of gratitude to one of their own, Supreme Court Justice Byron Raymond “Whizzer” White—scholar, athlete, patriot, humanitarian and public servant. The NFLPA presents this prestigious annual award to the player that is just as dedicated off the field as he is on the field.

During annual NFLPA locker room meetings, players selected teammates to receive NFLPA PULSE Awards for their outstanding work in the community. These winners were invited to submit applications for the Byron “Whizzer” White Award and received monetary donations for their foundations or a charity of their choice.

A panel of peers will select five finalists from the pool of PULSE winners. All finalists will receive additional charity donations and one will be named the 2013 Byron “Whizzer” White Award winner and receive an additional $100,000 for his charity. The 2013 Byron “Whizzer” White judging panel includes – Mike Florio (Pro Football Talk), Jim Trotter (Sports Illustrated), Richard Trumka (President, AFL-CIO) and Brian Waters (Pro Player Insiders). The winner will be announced at the NFLPA’s State of the Union press conference at the Super Bowl media center in New Orleans."

Hi MGoBloggers,

Tim North here with an update from the Zoltan Mesko Foundation.  I posted in October about the Celebrities for Charity x Zoltan Mesko Foundation "London Ticket Raffle" we were promoting at the time to raise inital funds for our new foundation.  I am happy to report that from the revenue we raised we have recently donated $5000 to Hasbro Children's Hopspital (link below) and another $5000 to Boston Children's Hopsital.  All the proceeds go towards efforts to help brighten the holidays for the patients and their families during a difficult time.  Please visit the link below for more info (I will be updating a link to the Boston Children's Hospital release when it is availible.)

In the wake of the Sandy Hook tragedy, we have reached out to foundations that support the community of Newton, CT and are currently in the process of making a donation.  I will provide more information when I know more...

I know that a few MGoBlog members had specific questions in regards to the foundations and causes we are focused on supporting, and I hope this helps to give a more clear direction of where we will be headed in the future.  Again, we can't thank enough for all of your support and we encourage you to "like" us on Facebook for updates on Zoltan's weekly volutneer work (he has yet to miss a week all season) as well as future campaigns we will be launching in the near future - expected mid-January

Happy Holidays and Go Blue!

Tim North

Miracle Wraps Mall is a program that was set up for the patients of Hasbro Children's Hospital to shop during the holiday season. Miracle Wraps Mall is a mini-mall set up in the hospital, complete with a bank, store, gift-wrapping station and food court."

Hello MGoBloggers,

Before I get in to the actual point of the post, we wanted to first thank you all greatly for your support during the Zoltan Mesko Foundation Patriots London Ticket Raffle.  We exceeded our initial net revenue goal and the funds are going to be extremely helpful for all of the events we are planning during the off season, especially the second annual ZoliOke in June.  Again, we can't thank you all enough for your both your support with helping get the foundation off the ground and during our careers at Michigan.  We truly have the most loyal and dedicated fans in the country without a doubt.

For those of you who don't know, Zoltan is currently growing out a... interesting... mustache to support Movember USA and their prostate cancer fund.  He is entering the final few days and we are trying to rally donations at the peak of his lip sweater.  You can check out his Mo Space page here and donate through his account: http://us.movember.com/mospace/3358725

That. Just. Happened. Thanks again for everyone's support and expect updates from ZMF on future events in the very near future.

Rothstein Space Emperor Interview

Rothstein Space Emperor Interview

Rothstein interviews the Space Emperor:

When questioned as to what stood out the most during his first year in the NFL:

Just the camaraderie and the pride you have at the college level versus the NFL level. A lot of guys don’t buy into the team concept, maybe, it’s more about feeding your family, that’s what it comes down to. At the same time there are little, minute instances where you forget you’re playing for money and you’re having fun and you’re winning. That’s what I like about it, those little windows throughout the experience.

Zoltan is interning to become Finance Space Emperor as well.

Skinny: Mesko is a lefty with a big leg who can pin the ball deep. He also will serve as New England's holder.
