OT- ESPN’s Sport Science explains the crowd noise at Century Link Field

For those of you watching the NFC Championship today, you're going to hear* about the 12th Man noise more often that 'Belichick vs. Manning' in the AFC Championship.

ESPN Sport Science put together a pretty cool explaination on why the stadium is so loud.  It's built like soccer stadiums world-wide, keep ing the noise in the field.  Pause the video at 1:22 when they show the Hawks Nest.  My first thought was: "that's goofy looking; they could have designed it to fit more people."  Then listen to John Brenkus tell us why.  Science!

Calling All Ticket Holders...

Calling All Ticket Holders...

Calling all Michigan fans with tickets to this weekend's game against UConn:

On behalf of all those alumni and fans like myself that do not have the priviledge of being at the game, I am writing to ask each and every one that is going to be in attendance to yell a little louder and more often than they normally would.  I ask this because, if you do so, I think it will make me and probably others feel better at having to watch the game at home and resort to yelling at the television (and scaring our toddler children in the meantime).  Its not healthy for us non-ticket holders to bottle up all the aggression and stress that comes from watching these games on TV and it might make our therapists jobs easier if you all could serve as our de facto vents.

Thank you in advance for your consideration,

On a much louder Michigan Stadium: “I couldn’t tell but I wasn’t paying attention to that too much. We had some communication issues - it was loud - and I think the fans need to remember they need to be quiet when we’re on offense and get loud when the defense is out there. It’s a good atmosphere; it’s always great in there, a great place to play, and I think it’s going to be great Saturday.”

Kickoff Cheer

Kickoff Cheer

There are some pretty cool college kickoff cheers out there.

Just to name a few, Oklahoma fans yell, "OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO U!", Auburn fans yell, "WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAR EAGLE!", Notre Dame fans yell, "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO IRISH!", while Georgia fans yell, "GOOOOOOOOOOOO DAWGS! SIC 'EM!"

Michigan fans, on the other hand, yell, "ooooooooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOOOH!" (See below)

Why does our kickoff cheer suck so bad?

I mean, seriously, "oooooooooooooooOOOOOOOOOOH"?!? Is that the best we can come up with?

Has anyone ever given any thought to at least yelling, "GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BLUE!" or something like that?
