OT: Kate Upton crashes off sea rock

MGoBlog favorite Kate Upton avoided serious injury during a recent seaside photoshoot in Aruba.  The model, and all around stellar human being, was posing on a rock when a large wave knocked her down and into the water.

SI's Most Impactful Players / Coaches for Each Playoff Conference

SI's Brian Hamilton put together a piece that would be considered a fluff piece, but for the accuracy of the B1G player selected.  Their take on the impact coach is interesting too - although we know the QB Whisperer resides in Ann Arbor.

Nearly zero meaningful content?  Probably.  But Peppers, man.  Peppers.

Big Ten Player: Jabrill Peppers, LB/S/All-purpose, Michigan. The winner of the Big Ten East will again be favored in the league championship game and thus be a favorite for a playoff invite. Peppers could be the uncommon player who will be deployed in such a fashion to make game-changing impacts singlehandedly. He has enough talent to do exactly that.
Coach: Brad Salem, quarterbacks coach, Michigan State. The Spartans have depth at running back, enough returning experience on the offensive line and a ton of potential to be exceptional on defense. What they don’t have is a starting quarterback who won 34 career games, as Connor Cook did. The toughest road game is Week 3 at Notre Dame. Michigan State’s schedule, which also includes matchups with Ohio State, Michigan and Wisconsin, could eat a bad quarterback alive. But if there’s a prepared, solid option available, suddenly the tenor of a playoff pursuit changes.

What is known as "manball" to many on MGoBlog is discussed on the first page of this Stewart Mandel column in SI:

I basically agree with him and I look forward (seriously) to seeing something like that here.

Prior implementations at UMich have been partially flawed (RS freshman WR inserted only on running plays, pre-snap fullback bunny hops in the direction of the run, agonizing lack of adjustments to realigned defenses where required, etc.) but there's no reason it can't be done effectively.

SI Releases Pre-Season Top 25 w/ Michigan Preview

Sports Illustrated released its 2012 Pre-Season Top 25 which includes a preview of each of the teams.

Notables: Alabama #1, MSU #8, Michigan #13, Nebraska #19, OSU #22

The Michigan preview is mostly about Denard, but there are some other interesting bits including a Q&A with Coach Hoke. Also, I believe Denard is going to be on the print cover this week.
