Hello out there, we're on the air, it's hockey...morning today

Should be a good one as two medal favorites face off - USA vs the host Russians.  Datsyuk is not playing at 100% for Russia, but of course they still have a ton of scoring talent on the team.

For anyone in Chicago, the Michigan bar "Diag" is open for the game.

Switzerland won 3-2 (Shootout) over Belarus today and will play Team USA tomorrow. I can't come up with any good warcries (beat that...persistently neutral country where there are a lot of banks and mountains and stuff!!!!) but hopefully we will destroy them with the power of our awesomeness.

Unfortunate Parallels: Michigan and Canada Hockey

Unfortunate Parallels: Michigan and Canada Hockey

Reflecting on last night's game, I see a lot of parallels between Team Canada and Michigan hockey this year. Canada outskated and outshot the US in a big way, but lost due to subpar goaltending, short yet terrible defensive lapses, and the inability to finish. This has been Michigan's season in a nutshell.

Just a quick thought. Also, USA USA USA USA USA USA USA USA!!!!!!

Olympic Hockey: Root for Sweden

Olympic Hockey: Root for Sweden

Should Sweden win by fewer than 6 goals, the US will grab the top overall seed (this also happens if the game goes to OT). This is very important because Canada and Russia will be on the same side of the bracket, the winner of which will play the 2 seed in the medal round. Also, the 1 seed gets the winner of Switzerland-Belarus, as opposed to Slovakia-Norway (i.e. Slovakia).

EDIT: Clarification-if Finland wins without OT, Finland gets the top seed and the US gets the 2 seed. As Canada is the 6 seed and Russia is the 3 seed, we really do not want to be in that bracket.
