Miguel Cabrera is officially in the lineup for tonight's game against KC:

Looks like the start time is 8:10:

Hopeful signs: Cabrera is at .331, Trout seven points back. Hamilton needs two homers to tie Cabrera. Both players will have wrapped up their games before the Tigers commence play, so we will know where we stand.

Do your commenting, hopefully celebrating, here. Updates, shifting percentages and tallies all appreciated, since I will be wrapped up with an eight-year-old who likes to go to bed at midnight, only looking in from time to time.

According to ESPN, Cabrera says he is prepared to play third for the Tigers:

"It was something we were talking (about at the Tigers') fan fest (last week). Return to third base, that is my natural position," Cabrera told Lider en Deportes. "Fielder's arrival will benefit us."

Also, BYB posted this picture of Cabby earlier today:

Not lookin' too bad. Maybe he's decided to take conditioning seriously?

Two outs, bottom of the 8th inning in the game where the Tigers are trailing by a run. Runners on 1st and 2nd. Cabrera hits a homerun with a look on his face that could melt sand into glass. So the question...is Miguel a great hitter or the greatest hitter?

He has 19 home runs and 56 RBI's so far this season, both leading the AL.

(also, why is he 3rd in first base all star voting?!)

OT - Cabrera snubbed, again.

Just saw this on ESPN... http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/allstar09/news/story?id=4326985

Chone Figgins over Cabrera? Really? I can understand adding another 3B to replace Longoria, but Cabrera is a 3B by trade, and still has enough mobility and defensive skill to get the job done for a couple innings in the All Star Game. Plus, his numbers >>>>> Figgins numbers. Anyone else a little peeved by this?
