Harbaugh Podcast: Jim and Jack talk about officiating and the 'Harbaugh Rule'

The podcast has been advertised here before, but I thought the talk about officiating was interesting this morning.  The cut block that Kugler was called for spurred a question to the B1G office about what's legal in that situation.  They're also checking on WR picks - as Jim explained, he wants to know why there are never any OPI calls on pick routes.  He believes the rule is that blocking is allowed 1-yd downfield, and mentions that we always get picked at 3 yds.  (Personally, I've always thought it was a 3-yd rule in college, 1-yd in pro.)

Jack talked a lot about how proud he was that Jim has kept his composure this year.  Talking about the Harbaugh Rule (where coaches aren't allowed on the field at all), he called out the officials by saying that Meyer had to be shoved off the field by an official because he was in the way pre-snap.  Then two plays later, Iowa was given a bench warning for coaches on the field.  Said the officials were so mad at Meyer that they had to penalize Iowa!

Also Nature Boy was "Wooooo"-ing, so how bad can that be?  Plus, he expects to be in AA for the OSU game, and was asking for tickets.

All in the first 20 minutes, so here it is...

Harbaugh: "No Debauchery!"

Harbaugh: "No Debauchery!"

First: an obligatory "Bleacher Report" apology. However, this interview is just too good not to share. The interviewer has exclusive access to John Harbaugh, but clearly wishes he had gotten Jim because the best questions and answers focus on Ann Arbor.

* Dad once made the brothers dribble basketballs all the way from their home to his office, alternating hands along the way;

* Jim reciting Shakespeare;

* "No apologies in football" (I hearby retract my earlier BR Apology)

* "No Debauchery!" apparently includes late-night kissing rituals.

Harbaughs Roundtable

Harbaughs Roundtable

Stumbled across this NFL films documentary/discussion between the three oldest Harbaugh coaches (sorry Jay) and Tom Crean (meh). Not sure when it first aired although clearly while Jim was at Stanford, but it's fun seeing how the brothers interact, the reverence they show for Jack, etc. Jim's "I must win!" vs. John's "I must compete!" is an interesting distinction.

Anyway, it's a good watch. It's on Youku, China's YouTube, so hopefully the embed works fine: link to the site directly is here

EDIT: There's a countdown on the video once you click play but the embed should work fine after that.

Brady Hoke on Rich Eisen Podcast

Brady Hoke on Rich Eisen Podcast

Rich Eisen had Brady on his podcast for a good, long segment.  Brady opened up a little more and shared a few stories, one of them a little physical altercation he had with John Harbaugh when they were coaching together at WMU under Jack.

Also of note, we've heard before but when asked about Jake Ryan, Brady said - "he'll be back by October."

Brady talks about his relationship with "Tommy" Brady, who will be coming back "to do some things" at Michigan at some point.

Brady likes Duck Dynasty.

Laura Hoke also doesn't wear red.  The Hokes generally don't wear green either.

Definitely worth a listen.

Hey guys, I came across this interesting video that shows a glimpse into the family life and upbringing of the Harbaughs. Really love the part where they show how Bo Schembechler have played an important role in their coaching philosophy (The Team, The Team, The Team)..
