Definitely off topic, but I felt like this would be a good place to look. Without getting into politics, these are some weird times and instead of posting something on Facebook, I have begun to feel compelled to find something to do that would be helpful to people in need. I have embarassingly little experience in this area. In a perfect world, I would like to find something that allows me to use the good fortune I've had in life to help with job skills, literacy, interview strategies or something like that.

So, long story short, anyone feel like sharing a positive experience they've had volunteering in Metro Detroit that they felt was particulary impactful?

So, really off topic but hopefully the community at large won't mind and will allow me a moment...

I am about to be an MgoDad for the first time. I'm  young, I was the youngest sibling to no experience with babies or child rearing. I know nothing about children and am a bit fearful. So, I ask you dear MgoReader any advice, suggestions, books/articles to read to help prepare me please share!

Thanks!

EDIT: Thanks everyone for the well wishes and great advice. This community surprises me time and time again with your willingness to help and sincere care for one another. Yet another reason why its great to be a Michigan Wolverine.

I am currently enrolled in an Entrepreneurial Studies class in the business school (ES 395 with Len Middleton, for those of you in the know). The main project we have is to develop a business plan, and my team has decided to develop a business related to sports jerseys. In order to do our market research we have developed a short survey which I would like to ask any and all of you to fill out. We need as many people as we can, and I know you all love sports enough to do this. If the idea becomes an actual business, I will owe it to all of you. Please help out a fellow Wolverine. I'm hoping that I can get some good advice from the community that is MGOBLOG...

Can someone offer a suggestion to a good beginner to intermediate golf club set.  I have only been playing for about a year, but live right accross from a golf course and am starting to seriously consider myself a player.  I'm all for buying the used equipment to save some cash, but I don't want to purchase anything that I will regret in a year.

I really don't know much about golf Brands, other than the obvious ferrri's of the sport (TaylorMade, etc.) and those are way out of m price rage.  Looking to keep the total amount spent for under $300, and yes, I need everything.   Thanks to all in advance.

This just passed the House and Senate and is on its way to the President: "Under the bill, anyone making a charitable contribution after January 11th and before March 1st to victims of the earthquake in Haiti would be permitted to claim these charitable contributions on their 2009 tax return." This might provide incentive for people who hate the commercial appeals or can't understand why anyone would want to help. Mod Edit: Preemptive freeze on comments due to the general reactions the last few days.
