Sugar Bowl Menu Ideas/Recipes

I am thinking Hurricane's and Gumbo. Since I live in Chicago seafood gumbo might be a little too adventurous to cook. So I found a good recipe from Emeril for Chicken and Sausage Gumbo:

Pat O'Brein's style Hurricane's is where I am having the most issue. Does anyone know the best way to duplicate them at home without the the mix? I have found a few reciepe's and I want to go the rum route, so any expert guidance would be appreciated.

Also, if anyone has an other food/drink ideas that are not SUPER difficult yet good and authentic I am all ears and appreciate the contribution!

Thank you to all of the MGoBloggers that came thru No.9 for the Michigan Delaware St game. We are STILL looking for Brian so we can hook him up. Also Brian if you are out there...if you have a banner...I would be more than happy to display the mgoblog banner.

At any rate, we are planning on putting No.9 Hamburgers or or "Nine Spots" in different campus locations. This would be for daily grub. We are also looking to do pre-bar and after-bar hrs... I am way out of the loop on bar times.

You folks know the streets better than we do...so the question is...Where would you like to see a “Nine Spot”? What streets have better student traffic...also what are good times during the afternoon...pre-bar and post bar?

Any help you folks can offer up would be great.
Thank You
