I saw this tweet and realized both people in this picture are Michigan coaches. It reminded me of the day we hired Jay Harbaugh and all the skepticism from our fans and downright disrespect from rival fans. Many thought he was under qualified and hired based on nepotism.

After 2 years, how do you feel about this hire in hindsight? I initially thought he wouldn't get a fair shake as a TE coach on our staff because even if the position group plays well, he wouldn't get the credit for it and that has pretty much held true.

How do you guys feel about him today?

Few offensive players got to speak to the press today, here are a few quotes that might interest you:

Wilton Speight says Harbaugh hasn't said when he's going to name a starter. 'Last year we knew when Jake ran onto the field.'

— Nick Baumgardner (@nickbaumgardner) August 26, 2016

Speight: 'It's coach's decision and not many really know what goes on in coach Harbaugh's mind.'

— Nick Baumgardner (@nickbaumgardner) August 26, 2016

O'Korn says his biggest improvement in camp has been protecting the football.

— Nick Baumgardner (@nickbaumgardner) August 26, 2016

O'Korn says he doesn't think any QB really thought this comp would last this long. It's been close.

— Nick Baumgardner (@nickbaumgardner) August 26, 2016

O'Korn on QB competition: "everything is being evaluated from the way we walk down the halls to the way we throw a pass on a certain route."

— angelique (@chengelis) August 26, 2016

Wilton Speight: “I feel good about where I stand.”

— angelique (@chengelis) August 26, 2016

OKorn says he and Speight and Morris getting 30 percent snaps. Magnuson 70%. Sooooo no one tipping hand

Players were allowed to speak to reporters after practice and spent much of it talking up the freshmen:

Both De'Veon Smith and Drake Johnson both mentioned Chris Evans as sticking out.

— Josh Henschke (@JoshHenschke) August 17, 2016

Mason Cole also praised Evans, says he really knows his stuff.

— Josh Henschke (@JoshHenschke) August 17, 2016

Drake Johnson, who is roomies with Evans, says he's "mad athletic" and smooth. Makes them say "wow."

— Josh Henschke (@JoshHenschke) August 17, 2016

Evans is going to play, folks.

— Josh Henschke (@JoshHenschke) August 17, 2016

Ty Isaac mentioned Eddie McDoom and Nate Johnson. McDoom can "fly"

— Josh Henschke (@JoshHenschke) August 17, 2016

Magnuson says 'everything is advanced' with Rashan Gary. Says only Peppers impressed him more as a frosh.

— Nick Baumgardner (@nickbaumgardner) August 17, 2016

De'Veon says he's beyond impressed by Rashan Gary: 'But I'm not about to lose to a teenager (in pass pro)'

— Nick Baumgardner (@nickbaumgardner) August 17, 2016

I, for one, am ready to see Chris Evans do Chris Evans things.

On the rise: Wilton Speight. The 6-6, 243 pound junior QB looked good for most of practice, showing just enough niftiness with his feet along with a strong arm.
Best drill: Wideouts were forced to sprint five yards, pickup a tennis ball, cut to the right and catch a ball. The ultimate test of dexterity and focus.
All eyes are on the QB spot, just like last season. There isn’t a lot of experience on the depth chart. But Houston transfer John O’Korn has starting experience. He is battling Wilton Speight and Shane Morris with O’Korn and Speight leading the way. In the end, I wouldn’t be shocked if Speight lands the job.

I also have a sneaky suspicion that Speight wins the job. I like O'Korn because he raises the ceiling of the offense but I just get a feeling Speight is the steady hand that'll win Harbaugh over.

Anonymous B1G players speak on Michigan

Anonymous B1G players speak on Michigan

I know ESPN or another outlet routinely does one of these every preseason but Zach Shaw from 247 surveyed some opposing players about M:

“We won more games last year, we won more games the year before that and we won more games the year before that. That’s all I’m going to say and to be honest I think that’s all I need to say.”

There's a 127% chance this is an MSU guy.

Not all responses lacked respect, though:

“What they did last year proved that they deserved this recognition, being in the top five and whatnot. And when we went against them they beat us, and beat us bad. I’m excited for the game and I’m excited to go back to Ann Arbor, one of my greatest football memories was going to Ann Arbor and beating them. But that’s a very, very different Michigan team than what they have now.”

Saw some posters asking about Baruti yesterday. Looks like he's headed to Utah. Not sure if Beilein will continue to pursue 16' prospects.

I can confirm the @Runnin_Utes have added Harold Baruti to their 2016 class, (6'6" & 6'11" wingspan. #UteNation

In football related news, Lorenz & Clint Brewster put in crystal balls for DPJ to Michigan today. Expect for a flood of them to follow as they usually do when Lorenz puts in a crystal ball.
