I've been looking around for a Peppers jersey, because it seems like the most comfortable apparel in which to watch us punch in faces next month. I just can't seem to find any legit vendors online from which to buy one. Where's the best place (in town or online) to get said jersey, and are there any Nike versions out yet?
What name do you put on the back of your custom jersey or do you just get a prior players number with name?
What is your 2013 Jersey that you will be wearing this year? Number, Brand, Authentic, Replica, Name? Or will you be wearing the season shirt? I am currently in the market because I have dropped 130 lbs and my #2 woodson jersey no longer fits and is framed in my living room.
days until all of the proud M alumni and fans witness the Wolverines dismantle the Chippewas.
There are also...
days until Jake Ryan tracks down Golson in yet another win under the lights.
There are also...
days until we beat Ohio.
Something I've often wondered, and it came across my twitter feed today (h/t @Hooverstreet), why don't we play OSU as Red vs. Blue with both teams wearing their home unis?
In the OSU Uniformz thread it often came up that the Home Jersey is the Untouchable, for both us and the OSU guys on the board. While Adidas has tried playing with the away uni piping, and Nike changed things up too, AA Torch and Pitchfork would really go nuts if they tried to do anything to the home blues.
This could add a bit of stabilization. Every year we play the last Saturday of November. Every year it's at noon (most years). And every year it looks like OSU vs. Michigan because we both wear traditional home unis.
That said, the "one team must wear white" rule came about for black-and-white TV, and has since been taken off the books. As I like Michigan's blue home jersey, I'd love to see us wear it more often. We could go color vs. color against OSU, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Indiana in conference, we could have done it against Bama and should do it against Arkansas. UCLA and USC do this every year, I'd love to see us pick it up. What do you think?
So it's been pointed out before that Adidas has had some... inconsistencies in the jerseys and their piping on the away unis:
Notice how Roh's piping goes above his name, QWash's is below. Yesterady I noticed something weird with the home uni's as well. As part of the "Block M is Everywhere" campaign, a block M was added to the back collar on the home jerseys:
You can see Kenny Demens has a Block M on his back collar here (from yesterday):
However, the offensive players (as best I could tell) didn't have a block M yesterday. They had text "Michigan" in that spot.
Look at the collar on the Funchise. Anyone know why this is? I'm not trying to complain so much as my OCD tendancies hate Adidas.
So... The Michigan Football "Legends" patches... Like many folks, I feel like they are a very fine idea with mediocre execution. They're big, yet impossible to read at a glance or at a distance. They stand out, sure - but less like anything you might want to affix to your own apparel and more like a white bumper sticker slapped on a black Mustang. Junior Hemingway spent most of last season looking like he was really proud that he'd won the Pinewood Derby for his scout troop. Or something. Anyway, some may disagree that they're all that bad, but I think we could perhaps at least agree that there is some room for improvement. Today, in a fit of procrastination, I decided to take a stab at improving the patches - which, hell, I think even if I'd just PictureHaused them to be smaller I would have succeeded in some way - and I humbly submit those efforts to your Dreaded Collective Judgement.
It's all pretty simple - mainly just the initials of the Legend-in-Question with some small text below to the effect of "Full Name - Michigan Legend" or something like that. Fewer words, fewer colors. What do you think?
Stumbled across this while perusing the interwebs this morning. Any merit to what this guy is saying?
Say it isn't so.
Please say that after what happened at Ohio State, the University of Michigan isn't letting its football players keep the throwback jerseys worn in the Wolverines' last-second victory over Notre Dame.
No athletic director who pays attention to the world, and conference, around him would say "yes" to such a request.
And yet, Michigan athletic director Dave Brandon, after checking with his NCAA compliance officer, acceded to the players' wishes. They get to keep the jerseys.
While this is not a violation of NCAA rules, it is a violation of common sense.
Don't people learn?
The mess at Ohio State, which cost football coach Jim Tressel his job and seems likely to put the Buckeyes on probation, began with players trading memorabilia for tattoos.
Several Michigan players say nothing untoward is going to happen, that they will keep the jerseys forever in order to preserve the memory of their victory.
OK. That's a nice thought. But why put temptation in front of players?
Does anyone think well-heeled Wolverines boosters will resist the urge to line players' pockets with cash while getting a "legacy" jersey to frame and hang on their den walls?
Even if you believe players have the right to sell whatever they are given, the NCAA disagrees. If you want players to avoid violating rules by selling jerseys, don't give them jerseys to sell.

Michigan has added a block "M" above the player names, and has also scrapped the extraneous piping on the road jersey (although the Wolverines don't play on the road until Oct. 8 -- their sixth game! -- so it'll be a while before you see the new road design).
Saw the Block M on the back of the home jerseys last week, and from this photo:
It appears the yellow piping is gone. Yes that's in practice, and yes Cam is wearing White Pants that are NOT supposed to make it to game day, but his jersey is fancier than some of the other practice jerseys we saw. It has his name, and yellow outlining around the name and numbers, as well as a matching Block M above his name.
I don't mind the changes. Never loved the yellow piping, but didn't hate it either. Your thoughts?
