Are we going to break the draft by school record?

Likely drafted:

  • Jake Butt
  • Jehu Chesson
  • Ryan Glasgow
  • Ben Braden
  • Ben Gedeon
  • Jeremy Clarke

50/50:

  • Channing Stripling
  • Deveon Smith
  • Kyle Kalis
  • Kenny Allen
  • Erik Magnuson

It is a good bet that Michigan will have 14+ guys drafted this year. Of course, they should all go in the 1st round!

Per Twitter, no Maurice Hurst, Willie Henry, Jabrill Peppers, Jake Butt, Dymonte Thomas. I'll update as things become more clear. This is a little worrying:

No Jake Butt on the dress list this week. Suspended "for a violation of team expectations"

The safety situation:

Jarrod Wilson and Delano Hill running at safety with the first team in skeleton drills.

UPDATE: Jehu is back and will be starting:

Jehu Chesson announced on the big board as the starter across from Devin Funchess today.

I just thought these were interesting little tidbits/confirmations:

Per Mark Snyder, Coach Mallory says that Dymonte Thomas will be strictly a safety this spring. I love this, clearly.

Per Nick Baumgardner, Coach Hoke says that Freddy Canteen is "truly a slot guy", which leads me to believe that he'll play pretty early, considering the only other true slot guy is Norfleet (and maybe Hayes?)

And per Zach Helfand, Hoke said that Noah Furbush cut his own cast off using a hedge trimmer because he wanted to play so badly. Early nominee for #want of the year.

Just a quick question. We spent most of our time since 2011 salivating over how good, what an ATHLETE Dymonte Thomas is. So far, we've only seen him briefly at S and then a little more on kick coverage, where he put his elite athleticism on display.

Obviously, he's not quite ready to take over at Safety yet, which I understand. We've been playing kind of soft coverages, so you need seasoned guys. My question is this. His RS season is gone. Are we really going to let this elite athlete we were all terribly excited to get languish on special teams?

I seem to recall reading that he was quite the runner out of the backfield. At 190, he's not huge, but could probably handle a few carries per game. Do you think this is something the coaches should pursue?

Jake Butt announced that he IS enrolling early now.

That means the current early enrollment list looks roughly like this:

  • Kyle Bosch
  • Jake Butt
  • Taco Charlton
  • Ross Douglas
  • Dymonte Thomas (probable)
  • Logan Tuley-Tillman

It looks likes early enrollment is becoming more and more popular every year and it will definitely help these guys see the field earlier.

I can't decide which 2013 recruit that I'm most looking forward to wearing the winged helmet, but S Dymonte Thomas is up there, and we haven't heard much about him recently.  He's competing in a national 7v7 tournament in Indianapolis this weekend, and here's an article with some praise.  Also includes a positive shout out to Khalid Hill.  Link?  Link.

Per Ace's twitter, quoting Dymonte's twitter.  I won't post the tweet because the format always seems to get screwed up, but here's the quote and link:

"It's official if I score high enough on my ACT and I pass summer school for Spanish 2, I'm graduating early to go play football for Michigan."

http://twitter.com/#!/Dymonte1

Also:

"Bree Dunn just walked into my house with all of his OSU stuff on.  He's about to get beat up."

This should assuage any fears for those people scared he'd flip to OSU.  Then again, if you don't believe him yet, you probably won't until he signs.

Dymonte Thomas Update (Good)

Dymonte Thomas Update (Good)

Submitted by Steve Lorenz on February 13th, 2012 at 5:35 PM

I won't post a link, but I just talked with Dymonte Thomas about a week or so after Eleven Warriors posted a short interview with him in which the consensus seemed to be that Urb's golden touch will bring Dymonte home to the Buckeyes. In short, it's nothing to worry about. He said he'd visit Columbus only to see Brionte and his brother, who is also a student at Ohio. When I asked him about Meyer/Dunn and their potential influences, his message was simple: They have no impact on me

I only posted this just in case some people caught the 11w interview and were a little concerned.
