My Pictures from the Big Chill

My Pictures from the Big Chill

So I uploaded a very similar post after the UConn game, having attended both the game and the Big House Tour on Sunday.

I had OK seats (Section 9, row 42) for a perfect event on Saturday evening, and on Sunday Morning I had tickets for Session 1 public skating. It was awesome, even with the delays from all the snow. The pics are below, with my comments: (photos taken on a 7.3MP Olympus, nothing fancy)

Having just arrived in the Big House. Don't worry, the students showed up. Also Mike Martin was in our section, he walked right past me, he's huge and terrifyingly so. I resisted the urge to scream out "How are the ankles?!?!" He would have broken me

The players came out under the banner. I wonder if Shegos has ever been booed by 113,411 before?

The "Blue Hairs" showed up early and in force

Team coming out under the banner

Jerseys looked pretty good to me, I really enjoyed the old-school numbers

B-2 Flyover. He wasn't as low as the B-25 was for UConn, but it was still awesome

3rd Period Action

Great final. Couldn't believe a 34 save shutout didn't garner the #1 star of the game... On to the Public Skating Pics:

Yours truly. I went to box, 2 minutes, felt shame

Hell of a weekend. Go Blue!

EDIT: removed any possible apostrophe confusion

The Big Chill was an incredible experience and may have set a hockey attendance record that will never be beat (Football may beat it in the future).

The weather turned out perfectly and we beat major rainfall by a few hours and a nasty winter storm by less than a day.

I can't help but have a vision of David Brandon convincing Mother Nature to not cause problems at the Big Chill - Whatever it takes....

Apparently, Big Chill Ticket Sales are higher than they should be:

Dear Student Season Ticket Holder,

Thank you for purchasing a 2010 Student Football season ticket. We want to remind you that one ticket for The Big Chill at the Big House is automatically included with every football and hockey student season ticket.

You ordered one extra ticket for The Big Chill at the Big House, and we would like to confirm that you want two tickets to this historic event (three tickets if you also ordered a student hockey season ticket).

If you ordered this extra ticket in error, please do the following before Friday May 21 to cancel this extra ticket and receive a $10 refund:

They weren't exactly clear when they said that tickets were included with football season tickets. Students, get your refunds.

Holy Jeebus! Big Chill now at 91000+ tickets sold

Took a quick look at TBCATBH (The Big Chill @ The Big House) website to see if any after game / before game events had started to be listed, but I was shocked to see that we are now over 91,000 tickets sold. We are not only going to shatter the world record for hockey attendance, we are going to put it out of reach until Global Cooling and the fall of the US dollar conspire to force Mexicans to learn to love hockey and start playing outdoors at Azteca Stadium. Hence the eternal question is pondered: Much like Schroedinger's cat, at what point does observing a sieve sucking then define a state where he becomes a black hole? 1 person? 74000 people? 110,000+ people??? This is going to kick ass more than an 18-hour A-Team marathon or buying my own hot tub time machine.

Big Chill / Cold War 2 cheap ticket info

FYI-- for those interested in going to the Big Chill / Cold War 2 in December at Michigan Stadium a little ticket info for you...

While public tickets will go on sale on April 21, paid alumni association members can get $15 tickets for $10 if you contact your regional club and ask to be put for the block ticket offer. Essentially, regional alumni clubs have an opportunity to request a block of tickets for their members through the big alumni assoc. The big AlumAssoc will then email the club president / ticket manager a code, and then the club can distribute the code to its members. You would then go on, use the ticket code and be allowed to order the $10 tickets before they go on sale to the public. Plus you'll be seated in sections with other regional alumni clubs. You pay directly through the website and tickets are mailed directly to you.

The catch(es):
1) Your regional alumni club has to request a code from the big AlumAssoc with an estimate for how many tickets you're requesting.

2) When you order your tickets, you'll need to put in your ACTIVE alumni association membership number.

If your regional club hasn't sent out the info on this, contact your regional club president and ask them to find out about it and get the word out. This offer is only good until Mar 31.
