Just seent over at UMHoops that Bacari Alexander is in the running for the Wisconsin Green Bay job along with 3 other candidates. Because I'm a selfish prick I hope that the Phoenix select someone else.

Submitted by MLaw06 on July 9th, 2013 at 12:06 PM

Coach BA gave a great update of the players on Twitter (along with a number of other great tweets).

■ “Jon Horford is on track [email protected] early as well. What I'm really excited about is he's been healthy all spring and summer.”

■ “Caris Levert has gotten stronger and Stands at 6'6" and some change. The biggest change is his confidence. #mygoodness

■ “Nik Stauskas is looking like a grown man physically. I wasn't sure that he could looked so defined. His athleticism has spiked too. #yes

■ “Spike Albrecht has benefited from the weight room as well, but the communication on the floor has been epic! Gonna be a great floor leader!”

■ “Max Beifeldt has really slimmed his frame and we're not sure If he can be called the "Moose" anymore. Suggestions?? #bekind

■ “Mitch McGary is on the summer circuit for college guys and its easy to see that he has an engine that any car would love.”

■ “Glen Robinson III is a beast! He is so tunnel visioned right now and is eager to help lead.”

■ “What surprised me most about Mark Donnal is he has a funny side. This young man is low key funny. #HALOL

■ “Andrew Dakich is the epitome of a coaches son and has the confidence to speak his mind. #jbart2.0”

■ “Cole McConnell is a very unassuming young man who is smart as a whip. Please don't leave him open on the court. #sniper

■ “Derrick Walton Jr. Has a presence about him that seems very familiar. #hmmmm...”

■ “Zak Irvin is not afraid to take big shots at big times. Nice attribute to have. #intriguing

Fab 5 Reunion in the works?

Fab 5 Reunion in the works?

Submitted by JeepinBen on June 26th, 2012 at 11:34 AM

Our favorite really motivational and sometimes secret leaking (see the "YESSSSSSSSSSSS" tweet that was removed just before Mitch McGary's committment went public) assistant basketball coach Bacari Alexander is at it again, tweeting "Stay Tuned. We will reunite soon...... Juwan Howard and Jalen Rose share a Fab Five moment" with a link to the Youtube Video embedded in the first comment.

There's been a lot of speculation already with the rededication of Crisler Arena and the "10 Year Ban" coming off the books in 2013 that the Fab 5 would be recognized in some way. 4 of the 5 (Not CWebb) have already been welcomed back in some form, most notably Jalen's "Rose Garden" section of seats that he buys for children.

I don't want this to turn into another "They cheated, I hate them!" "I love them!" thread, so what would your perfect "Reunion" be? I'd take having all 5 of them back at Crisler, maybe Jalen speaking to the crowd, and a new display case on the Crisler concourse showing the whole history - The baggy shorts, the final 4 banners, the downfall, the scandal, the cultural impact, etc. Lay it all out there. It's history, to be celebrated and scorned and most importantly remembered.

Oh, also, Juwan should do the Cabbage Patch again.

Hoops Offer Day Tomorrow - Who Commits Early?

Hoops Offer Day Tomorrow - Who Commits Early?

Tomorrow is "offer day" for John Beilien - the first 2014 hoops offers go out.  Last Summer was extremely productive, as we locked up our entire #2-ranked 2013 class (thus far) within a month or two of offers going out.

Who commits in the next month or two?

I'm bullish - I think we get Booker and Bates-Diop, plus a quality big (possibly Sean O'Mara) by the end of July.

Great coverage at umhoops.

Bacari Alexander comments on the physical development of some of Michigan's players. Pretty encouraging stuff.

  • bacari34 Boy, did some of our guys work hard or what this spring! New and improved bodies. Wow! Great job fellas!
  • bacari34 Wow Evan Smotrycz is diesel! I'm hearing 235lbs! Geeze! Jon Horford up to 250! Now that's exciting! Vogrich looks bigger/taller too. Yes!!!!
  • bacari34 Jordan Morgan is more cut up it seems as well [as] Novak and Douglass. Carlton Brundidge looks fit and trim and Trey Burke has been working.
  • bacari34 Max Biefeldt looks great and is a lean, mean machine it seems. His body has really developed over the years. I'm sure pick up gms will b fun
  • bacari34 Unfortunately, we can['t] watch pick up games nor can the players report back to us. NCAA rules! We trust our players will do the right things.

It's a somewhat boring Thursday eve, and I figure we should try to harness the power of the MGoCommmunity on Twitter.

What I ask: Everyone with a Twitter account tweet "#BacariAlexander" at 10:50PM(in about five minutes).

Just a test to see if we actually have enough pull to make things happen. Hopefully this works, and Bacari goes into a giant HALOLfest.

Darius Morris was named B1G Player of The Week and Tim Hardaway, Jr was named co-B1G  Freshman of the Week.

Michigan's Darius Morris earns the first Player of the Week honor of his career after recording his fourth points and assists double-double of the season with 26 points and 12 assists in the Wolverines' 87-71 victory against Bryant.

Michigan's Tim Hardaway Jr. earns the Wolverines' first Freshman of the Week award after recording a career-best 20 points in the Wolverines' 87-71 victory against Bryant.

Morris is the first Michigan Conference POTW since DeShawn Sims was honored on Jan 11, 2010. Hardaway is the first ever Michigan player named Conference Freshman of the Week.

Meanwhile, MGoBlue.com has a nice feature on Michigan MBB Asst Coach, Bacari Alexander.  Love the impact he's had on the program and love his enthusiasm.  Michigan will be fortunate if he stays in Ann Arbor for more than two seasons.
