Season pivot points, After T-Wolf, what was the biggest difference maker?

Submitted by ImSoBlue on December 23rd, 2010 at 1:41 PM

I think that a record of 7-5 generally met expectation for the team this year.  Yet there were games out there that I think would have turned in our favor with a few breaks.

The pivit point I have in mind is when Martin got chopped and injured at the end of the MSU game (curse you Foreman!).  After that, the D could no longer hold the middle of the field and we really struggled.

I think PSU and Iowa would have been much better games for us.

OK, I know it's CFN and they butcher facts on a regular basis, yet here is an article that generally raises the bar for our program and is generally positive.  They have us ranked 13th in their weekly power rankings.

Fiutak:

As great as Denard Robinson has been so far, he's only part of the story. The stats might say otherwise, but the reason for the Michigan resurgence has been the play of an offensive line that's doing a phenomenal job so far.

Criminello:

. . . I do worry about the hits mounting. He’s taken plenty, and isn’t especially thick. That aside, I’ve seen nothing in the first two weeks to believe his early heroics are a fluke or are about to expire anytime soon.

Rittenberg is NOT impressed.

That's the only conclusion that I can draw from his recent Big 10 power rankings which has UM as a dismal 8th place ahead of only Minnesota, Indiana and Illinois.

A side note: One common theme I have seen among much of the MSM is how much of an impact Marve is going to have at Purdue which I find odd because his numbers at Miami (YTM) were mediocre at best.

So, it is possible that this video has made it through here before and if it has - my apologies. However, a friend sent this to me today and I liked it. Obviously the Michigan hype part is taken from games we were playing not the best teams (EMU, Indiana, ND) but I respect the video maker for leaving out the Baby Seal U game.

The interesting part was the second half of the video where it showed clips of Rod's team in WV and some plays that looked very similar to what some of our guys were doing when things were clicking.

Phil Steele on UM v. ND and OSU v. USC

Submitted by Jim Harbaugh S… on September 10th, 2009 at 4:48 PM

Phil Steele was on WKNR Cleveland not too long ago giving his thoughts on this weekend's games.
(paraphrasing of course)

On UM/ND:
Likes the Notre Dame coordinators more than UM's
Clausen right now is better than UM's QBs
Sees ND winning comfortably
Not as close as the experts think

On OSU/USC
Trojans win by 7
USC has best supporting cast in CFB
Barkley will not have to do too much for USC to win
USC was his most impressive team week 1 - thought they did a great job beating down a bowl contender in SJSU

Why Would It Have To Be Mandatory?

Why Would It Have To Be Mandatory?

Submitted by Enjoy Life on August 31st, 2009 at 11:24 AM

Why would a coach at M have to make film study, treatment for injuries, weight training, etc. mandatory?

Are you telling me that M football players would choose not to go to film study if it was not mandatory? Really? They would choose to go hang out and goof off? If that is the case, then we are in far worse trouble than I ever thought possible.

But, I just don't believe it. If a coach says, "We'll have film study, break down the game, and look at tendencies, ... for 4 hours on Sunday afternoon." I would expect every single player would really want to be there.

To imply otherwise is an insult to the university, the coaches, and the players.

Boise State has supposedly inked a deal with Virginia Tech to play the Hokies on September 4 next year.

Kind of a bummer. I had my hopes up for this one. I hope that we will still get a big name for the opener. Next year's home schedule is in serious need of a great home game other than Michigan State. The other two out-of-conference home games are Bowling Green and UMass.
