Way OT (but its the offseason)- Who's going to see the Avengers tonight?

Well who else is going out for midnight screenings? Got myself tickets on Tuesday and they were nearly soldout with 4 showings. It received a score of 92% from the critics at Rotten Tomatoes which makes me more excited, plus Joss Whedon directed so it has to be good.

I know the Dark Knight was probably the best comic book genre movie, but I myself am a Marvel fanboy so this appeals to me more than Nolan's Batman movies do.

Go ahead and delete if necessary but I figured someone out there is probably nerding out like I am tonight for this movie.

OT- Help the Blockhams by Sharing your Favorite/Best/Worst Sparty Stereotypes

For those of you following along with The Blockhams, there's been some recent discussion about how the Blockhams lil bro Bump has broken away from being a simple Sparty cliche.

BUT... later today readers will see the MSU ribbing taken down an unexpected path in today's Blockhams strip, one that will continue into and conclude in next week's strips.

I have my own favorites when it comes to stories about Sparty fans and the things only they are capable of... but I thought it might be fun and interesting to hear from the MGoCommunity:

What are you favorite Sparty cliches?  What stereotypes ring most true?  Or which ones are just too bizarre to be anything but true?

The best ideas might be utilized in next week's Blockhams comics... and certainly it might be a fun thread to read on a quiet Thursday. Thanks everyone, and GO BLUE!

Today's post is now live... and now you can all possibly see where all this is going.  Stay tuned for next week's unforgettable edition of...

And also, thanks for the responses this morning.
I am inspired.

Driesenga Hits Walk-off HR; M beats EMU 4-2

Driesenga Hits Walk-off HR; M beats EMU 4-2

The Michigan Softball team struggled today against cross-town rival EMU.  However, we came away with a 4-2 extra inning game thanks to Sara Driesenga.

Sara hit a 9th inning 2 run walk off home run for the win.  She finished the game 1 for 4 with the run and RBI.  She also registered a strikeout and a base on balls.  Ashley Lane went 2 for 3 with an RBI.  Lauren Sweet went 2 for 4 with an RBI.

Haylie Wagner was in the circle today.  She finished with 2 ER off 7 hits.  She gave up 3 walks but had 13 strikeouts.  Yes I said 13 strikeouts.

Our pitchers have been very good thus far this year.  But with the season more than half over, we need to think about getting the bats going.  I know the girls, especially the seniors are kept awake by the drop in performance this year compared to last.  It has got to be killing them.  Coach is probably pulling her hair out and is about to see that Tarot Card reader on State St by the Red Lot and Golf Course.

But like I always say, A win is a win.

Haylie Wagner is today's hero, M SB beats Illinois 2-1 in first game; Lose second game

Haylie Wagner is today's hero, M SB beats Illinois 2-1 in first game; Lose second game

After losing a heartbreaker in extra innings yesterday, the Michigan Softball Team bounced back today by beating Illinois 2-1.  Yesterday's game hurt in many ways as Illinois is ranked 10th in the B1G.  We play the rubber game in a few minutes.

Haylie Wagner started in the circle in the first game.  She gave up 1 ER on 7 hits with 1 K and 1 BB.  She also was a force at the plate by hitting a game-winning 2 run shot.  Haylie got into a little trouble in the top of the 7th.  Coach had Sara Driesenga come in toface the final 2 batters for the win.

Sara went 2 for 3 hitting in the #4 hole for Coach Hutch.  Coach juggled the line-up again today by putitng chiddy in the #2 slot, Colie at #3, and inserting Ashley Lane in the #5 position.

Today's win helped keep us atop the B1G standings.  Wiskey beat Purdue today 6-5 and Neb/msu is in a rain delay.  The current standings are:

1) M 13-4

2) Wiskey 13-5

3) Nebraska 12-5

4) Purdue 11-6

So if we beat Illinois in the second game, it would put us a full game ahead of Wiskey and 1.5 ahead of Nebraska, depending on what the weather does in Nebraska.

EDIT:  M lost the second game today against Illinois 2-0.  Sara Driesenga was the starting and losin pitcher.  She gave up 1 run on 4 hits while giving up 2 Ks and 1 BBs.  Haylie Wagner came in the game in relief in the 4th inning. She gave up 1 ER off 4 H with 4 Ks and 0 BB.

Bree Evans went 2 for 4 at the dish.

We are currently tied for 1st with Wiskey at 13-5, with Nebraska 1/2 game back.
