META - Feature Enhancement Request

The thread about whether you liked old or new forum made me think that a single place to put requests which aren't bug related in one post would be nice.  Make a post and outline a feature you'd like to see.  If you read it and like it, upvote it so the admin's can see the more pressing items that the community would like to see.  If something is posted and there's a workaround or maybe the person didn't see it was already a feature, reply to it outlining where it is etc...  Maybe one of the mods can sticky this as well so it doesn't drop off the top for a while.

USA-Canada-Mexico to host 2026 FIFA World Cup

USA-Canada-Mexico to host 2026 FIFA World Cup

The joint bid of USA, Canada, and Mexico was accepted today and they will be officially hosting the 2026 FIFA World Cup. This will also be the first time that there will be 48 teams in the tournament. There are scheduled to be 80 games played, with 60 happening in the US (especially all games quarter final onwards). The final will also take place in the US at Metlife Stadium (Giants and Jets home stadium) in New Jersey.

WOW -- NASA's "Curiosity" robot on Mars found "organic material" and methane in the Martian soil, dating to about 3 billion years ago -- back when its surface was probably covered in water.

Not a total guarantee, but... you do the math, it's like having Durant and Curry on your team, there's no guarantee of a championship but C'MONG MAN.  Mars was likely teaming with life back then.

Still no word on intelligent life ever being present in East Lansing, however.

With the World Cup only one week away, I thought it would be a good time to bring up some storylines that the casual soccer fan might enjoy keeping track of since our own national team will not be attending.  Obviously, there are more than what I will post here, so feel free to add on in the comments if you think of other ones!

To launch the new site we have to freeze content on this one and download it all. The site will still work today as normal but anything posted from now until the swap--comments, posts, whatever, is going to go away. If you're working on a big diary or something, save it for after launch.

NOTE: If you get yourself banned today that's going to hurt. All rules still in effect.

See you again on 3.0

OT: Chrysler getting axed?

OT: Chrysler getting axed?

With the FIAT-Chrysler news conference Friday morning at 3am Eastern, the company is prepared to release their new five-year plan. Chrysler, the halo brand of the American portion of FCAU, is rumored to be on the chopping block with the nameplate getting shuttered altogether. This would just leave Dodge, Jeep, and Ram as the lone brands remaining, with Jeep and Ram both being part of rumors to be sold off to various investors over the last five years or so. Additionally, Fiat is pulling out of the US market.

As a big MOPAR fan who has family ties to Chrysler this stings quite a bit, and I am hoping it does not preceed a sell-off of the Jeep/Ram duo and the closing of the Dodge brand. Dodge especially makes very cool cars and I wish for a successful future for the company.

So.... that was unexpected. In the greatest coaching mic drop we have seen in some time, Zinedine Zidane, known to most casual soccer fans for the head butt that got him a red card in the 2006 World Cup final, has resigned as manager of Real Madrid, just a few days after they won their third consecutive Champions League. He was only at the helm for three years, making his trophy case that much more impressive. Can't think of a recent American sports equivalent, though I hope my fellow mgobloggers can chime in.

2018-19 Women's Water Polo Record Predictions

2018-19 Women's Water Polo Record Predictions

Submitted by Fitz on May 31st, 2018 at 9:10 AM

As most everyone knows, the Women's Water Polo season is only 6 months away. Coming off last season's 32-9 record ended by a loss to Cal in the playoffs, it's about time for us to take a look forward. The team returns 2 of their top 3 scorers from last season. With no published schedule yet this is clearly a fruitless activity but what is everyone's prediction for the year? Mine is 35-6.
