Meta: Proposal for MGoReaders to help the MGoStaff w/transcripts

Intro

I'm not exactly sure what's going on, but I think the MGoStaff is overwhelmed. They've provided us with subscription-free content for years, so maybe we can give something back. There are already a few guys doing this informally, so this is an effort to organize and prevent redundant efforts and other time-wasting mixups.

Proposal

Here are some proposed steps to accomplishing this:

Cyber Security Advice Questions

Mates,

As we wind down on OT season, I have a question I am hoping the many wizards of smart on this board can help with, and hopefully others can benefit from the answers.  I am curious about the best ways to manage the physical security of data for a business application.  The suggested methods of data back up and storage are:

1.  Purchasing a different network, in effect, and having on-site multiple servers which store all the data across multiple drives.  Cost less than $1,000.

Jim Jannard, a man whose first business was selling motorcycle parts out of his car at motocross events, then, who built the Oakley Sunglasses company (later selling it for $2.1 billion), then, went on to build the Red 4K Camera, the camera that changed the film industry to digital from celluloid (for the most part), even forcing the hugely successful German camera company, ARRI, to develop a digital camera, (though ARRI won't admit it was the reason), has developed something new: A holographic phone that doesn't need 3-D glasses.

Encountering domestic violence: what to do

Encountering domestic violence: what to do

As you've no doubt noticed, the Urban Meyer situation has prompted a discussion on the blog about what the appropriate response is to domestic violence.  I want to pass on a few thoughts on this that are rooted in professional experience.*  Nothing I say here is intended to be a comment on the Meyer matter in particular.

My thoughts:

Let's imagine that you know or believe that a coworker or relative is abusing his/her partner or suffering from abuse by his/her partner.  What do you do?

Hate to have to do this last minute, but had a friend bail last minute.  I have a ticket for tomorrow's ICC soccer match between Manchester United and Liverpool Section 24 Row 68 (should be solid seat).  I'd love to get a tiny bit of the cost back, but looking at secondary market I'm not optimistic. It is a hard ticket, so would have to meet near stadium prior to deliver.

I'll be at gate 10 as usual but Im not that excited about this "match". Who's got a tailgate I can crash at about 1:45. I would probaly only imbibe in one drink and a light repast since I have to represent  U of M for the next five hours. Trusted bloggers XM, RobF, Seth and even my MGoBlinddate can vouch for me as a decent guy. I won't regale you with my stories of meeting Woodson, McElwain, Griffey Jr, Tomlin all within the last four months (maybe I'll talk about  my favorite Bens (Bredeson, Mason, and Herbert)).
