OT - Reddit CFB Risk Update 7/3: The Final Day

Two months have gone by since we began this pointless, yet oddly enjoyable game. We’ve faced controversy, arguments, and a thousand other struggles I’m not so keen to name. We’ve lost ground, gained ground, lost Michigan, and got it back. We’ve made enemies of what seemed like every red team in college football, and we’ve found friends in the blue ones. And now, as the final results hits us at midnight (ET), we may just find victory as well.

This may have been the best night the Alliance has ever had. Florida holds the #1 spot with 40 territories. Michigan holds the #2 with 28, a four territory jump from yesterday. In the third spot is, unfortunately, Ohio State with a lowly 12 spots. Nebraska is even further behind that with 10.

We had a really good night last night, both practically and as far as RNG is concerned.  The numbers had us expected to hold 24.53 territories at the end of the night and we ended up with 26, gaining two from the night before.  Importantly, we slightly widened our gap with Nebraska and all of this despite a typical Friday participation drop.

Last night was a very neutral night for us as far as RNG was concerned.  The final odds had us expected to hold 24.4 territories at the end of the night and we ended up with 24.  RNG aside, it was a very solid night for us as we gained 4 territories and widened the gap between us and Nebraska.

After a neutral-to-decent RNG night the day before, last night's RNG was slightly negative.  The odds had us expecting 22.11 territories at the end of the night and we ended up with 20.  Particularly painful was losing AA on 82% win odds and WMU on 90% odds.  If you've been with us for the last few weeks, you've been able to see how this game fluctuates with its ups and downs from day to day.

Yesterday was the most eventful night in a long time. Stanford and Virginia Tech were both eliminated in the same night. VT faced a 14% chance of elimination and Stanford only faced a 1% chance. Hopefully this tilts the battle in our favor in this last week.

Michigan (23) is currently in second place behind Florida (28) with Nebraska (19) making a final push to win. We urge you all to please remain active in this final week. This is the last week you have to make votes and to push towards a victory here.

There's no way to sugarcoat it, we had a pretty awful roll last night.  Based on the numbers, we were expected to have ~26 territories at the end of last night.  We ended up with 21, which was 5(!) under our expected total according to the actual odds.

Despite our lousy luck last night, Michigan's 21 territories is still good for second place under Florida’s 26. Nebraska is in third right now with 16. There is still plenty of time to push ourselves into the top spot.

Anyone watching the Westworld season finale?  Though I've watched every episode, I'm struggling to understand just what the fuck is going on.  Really felt they've totally spun their wheels in this entire season.  Maybe these last 40 minutes will change my mind....

Another day of losses have made it so that our perennial nuisances, Virginia Tech and Alabama, have taken up a stronghold in between our buffers. We’ve been able to hold strong against Ohio State and Wisconsin, but these two teams have been nipping at us for a while now, and may need to be taken care of sometime soon.

Ohio State- another nuisance- has spread themselves across East Coast. As that strategy has negatively impacted several teams before, we’re interested in seeing if that can hinder their progress against us.
