OT: Maize and Blue Flowers (Calling all mgoblog BLUE thumbs!)

Submitted by Idzerd on August 25th, 2017 at 2:43 PM

(Wanting to get my OT in before the deadline and before next spring as I'm doing some backyard work in the next several weeks.)

I have a small, very ugly retaining wall that actually belongs to my neighbor behind me.  I'd like to hide it the best I can without having to build a whole new retaining wall.

So, I'm thinking of plants and then the idea of Maize and Blue flowers popped in my head.

Any recomendations of the best flowers to use??  I am colorblind so am not able to pick accurate colors -another reason I need input from others.

I'd prefer alternating maize flowers and blue flowers.  I live in Grand Rapids if you need to know the climate.  Also -no direct sunlight.

Thanks for the advice.

On the eve of MGoBlog football (or non-OT) season, I thought this might make an interesting topic. What behaviors do you find most annoying in retail stores?
I'll start with a couple:
- People right behind the person at the register who insist on standing at least several feet from that person. I'm all for "transaction bubbles," but I find them annoying when the end of the line extends into aisles where people are trying to maneuver shopping carts, etc.
- I don't see this very frequently nowadays, but occasionally someone will park an empty cart in a line and fill it piecemeal while others are waiting behind the cart. (Unless the person looks sociopathic and potentially dangerous, I usually push those carts out of the line or at least behind me.)

Amazon's deal to acquire Whole Foods will be complete Monday and I'm torn.

On the one hand, you can argue it is bad when one company starts to swallow an ever growing share of the economy. And there are assertions that Amazon's impact on retail has been devastating and its employee wages are bad.

On the other hand, my family and I use Amazon all the time.  Bezos has already promised to cut prices at Whole Foods starting next week and offer Prime customers (that's me!) deals and discounts at the grocery store. I am not a food snob, but I will buy more stuff at WF if it gets cheaper.

What say you all? Good or bad?

OT: Why is everyone on GoT so dumb? (Spoilers)

If you've been on the internet this week the latest episode has already been spoiled by headlines alone. In case this is the only site you visit and you have yet to see Sunday's episode AND you still clicked on this, stop reading now.

Everyone is just so dumb in 700 AD or whatever and I can't handle it.

Night King: Throw faster or at least have better caddies! Throw at the rock island!

Bran is just the worst at omnipresence!

Just have dragons burn the ships!

Writers: You have all of the deus ex machinas in the world and you still come up with "this dude who we never show rides in on a horse sometimes!" Why did you idiots give everyone plot armor this season?

Dear board, please answer me this: Who else is dumb? Who is the most dumb?

Any plans for viewing the Great American Solar Eclipse tomorrow? Oregon wakes up to a black sun as they are the first to see it. Here in GA we are seeing about 99.5% eclipse. So, we headed north to TN to be in the "path of totality". Should be interesting as it get very dark and the temperature drops quite a bit. My buddy went out to KS and it looks like they will be under a cloudy sky. What are your plans?

It wouldn't be near the first game if we didn't have a neg record. If you recall, last season Mr Yost set an (un)official Neg record.  According to MGoHoF, Yost's Neg total as of the spring was 1,248 for not believing UMbig11's report that Speight was QB1.

Well then.

Somewittyname did not let that record stand.  Please go to the Camp Update from Sam Webb thread and Neg if you haven't already.

EDIT: As of 12:50pm on Sunday, the results are as follows:

Total Negs 4,621
Total Posts 37
Neg Average 125
Neg High 259

The table only takes into account Negs in the Camp Update thread.

It is important to note that this poster began their spree with over 4,400 points and is currently -1,397.  We can assume this poster accumulated roughly 5,800 Negs over the course of 18 hours.

The Mods may need to confirm this, but have we ever witnessed an OP that has a negative point total?  someshittyname created a post (which can be negged here) comparing last year's starters versus this year's projected starters.  It's hilarious to me to see that negative point total in an OP.  Nice job.

I'm not counting upvotes. Strictly Negs. Thank you stephenrjking for pointing out the current total in the HoF.

Today is national bring your own cup slurpee day. My kids loved it.  We brought three giant cafe bustelo containers.

Get yours.

(that isn't me, but I admire her moxie.)

(I do not work at 7-11 or own any stock.  I'm just a fan of bringing my own container.  If only bars did this promotion.)

If somebody could please embed for me, but here is the link. https://mobile.twitter.com/mgoblog/status/897134505030545408 I think some of us need to separate the real world and sports world sometimes. I understand the premise as far as the ridiculous moral victory headlines, but to put MSU and what happened on Saturday next to each other is pretty shitty.

Let me know if I missed any explanation for this, and it may have been done and explained earlier when I was on my summer break from MGoBlog in June/Early July.

As it says in the title, I am simply wondering: Where did the signature lines following our posts and comments go? I saw someone mention this question in a thread a few days ago and it got me wondering about it.

Seems odd that they suddenly went away, why would they? They are always fun and creative additions to profiles on this blog.
