What if Casteel becomes available?

What if Casteel becomes available?

To the surprise of absolutely no one outside of Morgantown it's looking more and more like the Uncle Opie experiment  is failing badly which could lead to Casteel becoming available at the end of the season.  Does RichRod go get him?  He allegedly turned it down the DC initially because he didn't want to uproot his family plus he had a job but if Stewart gets smoked as expected that will probably not be the case anymore. And it would surprise me at least to see West Virginia stay inside the Rodriguez family tree and promote Casteel despite their defense being ranked 7th in the nation going into last night's game.  I'm not a Gerg hater by any means (the man doesn't exactly have the 86 Bears personnel to work with) but if Casteel became available at the end of the season I think Rich would try and get him.

What do you guys think?

Probably stating the obvious here, but I can't help but think this is the last time we'll see JoePa vs. Michigan.

This game is huge and it comes at a critical juncture in the season and while I can't wait for a dominating win, I have been thinking about what it means to have JoePa on the sidelines. He brings history, tradition, integrity, character and sincerity to the game in a way we so rarely see today.

We will never see another of his kind again in football at any level, I have no doubt. Enjoy this game and root for Michigan to win, but remember to notice JoePa and watch him coach against us for probably the last time. Regardless of the outcome, I trust the Michigan Men on the field will recognize the history represented there.

Watching the 02 PSU game on BTN.  They spent 3 or 4 interviews on the T. Hunt catch on the sideline and how it cost them the game blah blah blah and they totally gloss over B. Johnsons 3rd down um I guess I'll call it a volleyball dig that they called a catch to keep the drive alive.  If not for that  PSU punts to us and we probably get great field position and end the game.

That was so far from a catch for Johnson I couldn't believe the play by play guy was trying to sell the color guy.  Classic.   I wonder how Calvin Johnson feels about that catch?

Well I see where the PSU fanbase gets their whiny nature the coaches still can't let it go and they are wrong.

Misremembering UM-PSU 2005

Roger Clemens + English = gold

Anyhow, about a month ago I am sitting in O'Hare waiting for a flight to Iowa City. Two PSU fans were sitting in the waiting area as well and talking about their trip to Iowa City to watch the game. The person next to them happened to be an Ohio State fan (who did not attend the school by his own admission early in the discussion) and the three of them started talking about attending games at other Big Ten campuses.

I deemed Angry Birds on my iPhone much more interesting than these fools until a certain game was mentioned. The PSU guys had also went to Ann Arbor to watch the UM/PSU game in 2005 and was deemed worthy of a recap since it was the last time they had been to Ann Arbor. The worst part of the game was, gasp, that the clock operator put time back on the clock after the game had ended which allowed Michigan to run another play to win the game. The OSU fan started experiencing the vapors and I felt he may faint dead away (use your best Southern Belle impersonation when you read that line) due to the thought of such cheating.

At that point I wanted to say "actually that only happens at Michigan State" or "I believe you are incorrect sir", but I had just unlocked another level on Angry Birds and figured stupid is as stupid does so it would only be a waste of my time. I deal with enough nonsense in any given day.

TomVH: Cyrus Hobbi Update

TomVH: Cyrus Hobbi Update

I hadn't been in contact with Cyrus Hobbi in awhile, but I spoke with his head coach today and he updated me about where Cyrus is at.

Cyrus is wide open right now, and he plans on announcing his decision at the Under Armour All American game. Michigan has done a great job recruiting him, and he was really impressed with his unofficial visit. He's trying to schedule an official visit out there right now, but that probably won't be until after our season.

Hobbi's team is 6-2 with 2 games left, and then they head to the playoffs, so it may be awhile before he takes the visit. His coach also updated me on a 2012 prospect on their team, that happens to be Cyrus' best friend, DJ Foster.

Foster is a 5-foot-10, 180-pound athlete that plays both ways for Saguaro. Coach Sanders said he's a lock down corner, and probably the best athlete he's had in a long time. Michigan hasn't offered yet, but they are hoping to get one from Michigan soon. UCLA, Oregon State, ASU, and Arizona have all verbally offered so far. He's a name to keep an eye on.
