CFN picks us and (WTF?!) has a pretty good write up/analysis

Fui must have spent a long time on this one because, outside of saying Indiana twice in one sentence instead of Indiana and Iowa, it's a pretty well thought out analysis (yeah, I know, and it's not even 2012 yet and we've got armageddon on our hands!).

What Will Happen: The team with the ball last will win. Wisconsin is a good, sound defensive team that’s about to get dragged down in a wide-open street fight. It’s not going to be Illinois-Michigan, but it’ll be a shootout with plenty of home runs and great offensive plays after great offensive plays. The Wolverines will unleash all the weapons, and Tate Forcier, who’ll step in after Robinson gets banged up, will lead the way to thrilling game-winning drive.
CFN Prediction: Michigan 47 … Wisconsin 45 … Line: Wisconsin -5

Hard Edge Win/Loss Story -Mostly OT

Hard Edge Win/Loss Story -Mostly OT

So in celebration in my pasing the 500 point mark (long time lurker) I thought I'd post something fun. As opposed to another "When will DB announce OMG recruits are gonna run" Topic.

Someone with a better memory and or google skills can probably point to the exact game I believe it was 2004 possibly 2005. I know it was against Minnesota, Michigan was up late with very little time on the clock. A stout defense just broke Minnesota's qb and they brought in a young back up. Everyone in the stadium except possibly our defense coordinator knew Minnesota wasn't going to throw and when we went into prevent I had that sick feeling we were about to witness something awful. With damn near no seconds left the Minnesota RB scooted up the right sideline for what looked like 200 yards and sealed the game for a heart breaker.

I turned off the tv in disgust and left my small one bedroom apartment putting on my Michigan hat and decided to go to Best Buy to grab some sad music to possibly hang myself to. Walking in was no treat as they lined the right aisle with new tv's all showing the "incredible run" I turned my head and made eye contact with an employee who upon seeing my hat left his register and said hey man you could use a hug. So there I was in the middle of the enterance hugging a 6'5 black man barely holding back the tears. I was not hard edge that day my friends. So whats your best/worst after game story?

So the genie gives you one to choose from...

A home Wisconsin win, in front of the Michigan Faithful, with some recruits, on Senior Day

-or-

A road win over chief rival OSU and Pryor to end their streak against us

As much as I'd like it to be OSU, I almost feel Wisky is the more important.  I think our fanbase really needs the win in our own stadium, to help further turn around some of the doubters.  I think OSU is still the perceived "better" team in the conference, and the "heat" for losing to them would less considerable.

We can all see first-hand how amazing Denard is in running RRs offense but i wonder how some of the QBs from our past would've fared if they had a chance. I think we can rule out pretty much everone between Elvis and Chad but what about the others? How good would Michael Taylor look running these sets? How about Steve Smith? I could make a hell of a case for my own all-time favorite Wolverine Ricky Leach putting up some monster stats as the trigger man in a spread n shred system but that's not the guy i think would be dwarfing Denard's numbers if he was here now. My guy would be Dennis Franklin, he of the all time best winning record in Michigan football history as a starter at 30-2-1. Who would you want if you could take any Michigan QB to run RichRod's very potent offense?

I don't even know what the line is, but I would have taken the Rockets and the points.

After looking, it's only -9.5. I still like it. Rockets have been quietly having a really good season. The game against Notre Dame was equally their good play as it was ND's, well, usual play.

Rockets just struck. 6-0, PAT pending.

TomVH: Quick Sammy Watkins Update

I don't mean for this to sound cryptic, or sound like I'm holding back info but I have heard from a few people that Michigan may now be in the driver's seat with WR Sammy Watkins.

I have also heard that Watkins may make his decision sooner than the Army All American game. This isn't 100% yet, and as everyone knows this can all change in an instant. So don't take this as set in stone, just something to note. He might announce sooner, he might wait, Dallas went back and forth with the same thing so we'll see what happens.

I have been following this the past few weeks out of curiosity. The production has already surpassed last years 12 game total. It has also passed 2006's 13 game total.

  2009 2010 to date
Pass 2380 2555
Rush 2234 2663
Total 4614 5218

By comparison the last good year.

OT: Grimes Suspended by Nutt

OT: Grimes Suspended by Nutt

Really I just wanted to use Grimes and Nutt in the same sentence cause it sounds kinda naughty. But also there's this article referenced by Bruce Feldman in an ESPN Insider article:

Looks like our old friend Tony Grimes was potentially suspended for some academic hijinx or another. Apparently our awesome luck with DB's extends to one-time recruits who were paid chose to play elsewhere?

Let the countdown begin!  Denard needs just 77 yards to tie Air Force QB Beau Morgan's 1996 record of 1,494 yards.  But I think we all know, once the dust clears this record is going to get smashed, only to be broken next year again by Denard.  So U of M student section, organize the countdown during the Wisconsin game, and hopefully we will celebrate a broken record and Michigan victory Saturday.
