With Toledo making the trip to the ohio (state) saturday they will be hearing from what Rocket fans are there cheering TOL.....EDO, yes they cheer that like the o-h-i-o. Maybe they will realize how annoying they sound. I am a ut fan and this is a new (5 years) development that I find annoying. Somthing about ohio that makes people want to spell things out.
Prediction for this game- "closer than the experts think"
I just watched this press conference, and in it it was mentioned that there are several post-game activities being sponsored by the university, particularly for students.
Can any current students fill the rest of us in on what these events are and if non-students are able to attend?
I graduated in 2009, so I am still at the point where I plan on continuing my night after the game. I know the bars will be packed, so any alternatives would be awesome.
Also, I know there are some of you who have been wondering about gameday parking in the lots. Everyone knows that they don't open until noon, but it also sounds like they are not going to allow lining up ahead of time. According to the Michigan police chief, at least.
Anyways, I thought this might be useful to some of you.
SIAP or Discussed.
I'm really liking WolverineNation so far. Here is video of TomVH interviewing 2013 commit Shane Morris.
A few drills are shown showcasing Morris' footwork and armstrength, including an 80 yard bomb and an around the back (sort of?) pass. Show off...
I emailed him the link to Brian's long post about eating and drinking in Ann Arbor so he'd have someplace good to write about in his column next week and he wrote me back:
Jim: Thanks for the hospitality and references, I appreciate it. I've been pretty well scheduled by some folks who live there, so I'm just going with their flow. I'm sure I will enjoy the weekend.

Subject: Ann Arbor Bar & Restaurant Review
Hope you are coming in with the GameDay crew for UTL (Under The Lights) in Ann Arbor this Sat. Here’s a link to a very complete review of local establishments for food & drink.
My son and I will be having a couple mason jars at Dominick’s Friday after golf, then dinner at the Red Hawk, then a few cold one’s at Ashley’s. See the article for reviews of each.
How this got past writers and editors and producers is beyond me.

Yes, it is "cool" for schools to trick up the jersey and helmet design, however there is a floor with that hypothetical ceiling of wicked, fresh looks. I could be wrong, but I assume that floor is reached when you local roller deby team, the Charm City Roller Girls, is accusing you of stealing their helmet design. It was bad enough that Maryland changed jerseys post-warmup (lame) and then subjected any viewers brave enough to watch the Fighting Edsalls tangle with Miami's JV team to seizure-inducing duds. This however, is an extra helping of fail.

This just got sent along to me by an MGoBlog reader (thanks, Daniel!). It appears the Toledo Whitmer football program, home to Chris Wormley, is under investigation by the Ohio High School Athletic Association due to an "unusually high number" of transfer students on the football team, according to the Toledo Blade:
If Whitmer is found guilty, penalties could include suspension, forfeiture of games, forfeiture of championship rights, probation, public censure, denial of participation, or fines not to exceed $2,500 per occurrence, or such other penalties the association commissioner deems appropriate.
Neither Tom Snook, Whitmer athletic director, nor Joe Palka, the head coach, returned phone messages seeking comment Tuesday night.
This shouldn't affect Wormley or his playing status at all, since he's a Toledo local who's played at Whitmer for his whole high school career, while the investigation is focused on players who have joined the team since last season. Still a situation worth keeping an eye on, however, as Whitmer has started to produce a lot of Division I talent in recent years.
