Feb. MGoProfile delayed

Feb. MGoProfile delayed

Submitted by Six Zero on February 29th, 2012 at 7:55 AM

Happy Leap Day to MGoBlog!

Just wanted to make a quick announcement regarding MGoProfile, which I previously said would run monthly during the offseason.  Well, yeah, about that...

In truth, it was Alex Kozan's fault.  That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.

Actually, both the honoree and myself have had a lot going on lately and agreed to just push it back a week or so rather than throw together something less successful.  In short it just means we'll probably have a delayed profile for the beginning of March and another at the end of the month.

Now back to your regularly scheduled programming of bball, hockey and the most insanely proactive recruiting effort since 2011.

I just wanted to say thanks to all of you. The last couple of months I have spent in the hospital trying to overcome cancer. I was in the hospital for most of December and January dealing with surgeries. This blog and the creative guys who run it have provided a lot of insight and humor (at times a distraction) that have helped the tough days of rehab go by. If you think the blog is funny you should read it on a morphine drip. I'll never forget in my darkest hours, Kirk Cousins getting destroyed by you all. From a fellow fan, thank you!

He didn't originate the whiteout (Winnipeg did) but he was the one who made it so effective in Happy Valley.

He was also responsible for Zombie Nation and all the other RAWK music (minor league baseball) stuff Penn State plays.

Most of the fans on their 247 board are happy about this. A lot of them sound like blue-hair "get off my lawn" people, but they feel like their atmosphere has gotten way out of control. They make similar comments to ours about wanting the majority of music to come from the marching band.

How do you personally feel about so much music at Michigan Stadium the past three years?

Favorite 2012 recruit position group?

Favorite 2012 recruit position group?

Now that the amazing 2012 class is officially complete, I'm curious which 2012 recruiting class position group is everyone's favorite. I'm lumping the TEs in with the WRs to give them a chance. Here are my thoughts.

OL: Magnuson, Kalis, Bars, Braden

Helps 1st tr: Kalis or Braden, not both

Potential/likely all Big Ten: All of them

Potential star: Kalis, Magnuson

WR/TE: Darboh, Chesson, Funchess, Williams

Help 1st year: Darboh, Funchess, Williams

Potential/likely All Big Ten: Darboh, Funchess, Williams

Potential star: Darboh, Funchess (mismatch against LBs/safeties will be fun to watch)

DL: Pipkins, Wormley, Henry, Godin, Ojemudia, Strobel

Help 1st year: Pipkins, Wormley

Potential/likely All Big Ten: Pipkins, Strobel, Wormley, Ojemudia

Potential star: Pipkins, Ojemudia

LB: Ross, Bolden, Jenkins-Stone, Ringer

Help 1st year: Bolden, Ross

Potential/likely All Big Ten: Ross, Bolden, Jenkins-Stone

Potential star: Ross, Bolden, Jenkins-Stone

DB: Richardson, Wilson, Clark, Gant

Help 1st year: Richardson, Wilson

Potential/likely All Big Ten: Richardson, Wilson (also like Clark)

Potential star: Richardson, Wilson

I've left off the RBs since they don't measure up to the rest of the positions, but it will be fun to see what Borges does with Norfleet.

I think one could make a case for DL, LB and OL given both the talent, depth and need. It's hard to go against the three likely stars at LB, but I'm going with the DL. Pipkins elite talent at such a position of need along with such high end depth with 6 recruits and 4-5 players with All Big Ten or better potential puts the DL at the top. I also think Ojemudia will be awesome after a couple years.

Marcus McWilson to Nebraska

Marcus McWilson to Nebraska

2013 safety Marcus McWilson from Youngstown (OH) Cardinal Mooney committed to Nebraska today.  Top 20ish Ohio player (Rivals #142 player overall) that had didn't have a Michigan offer.  Still plenty of time to Signing Day but interesting that another top Ohio player leaves the state for now.  Urban Liar has adopted a completely different strategy from Tressel by neglecting top 250 talent from Ohio for other elite players nationally instead of locking up the home state.
