Nebraska RB Aaron Green to Transfer

Nebraska RB Aaron Green to Transfer

Submitted by hart20 on May 1st, 2012 at 1:02 AM

Nebraska RB Aaron Green will be transferring from Nebraska. This is a pretty big loss for Nebraska. He was a 5-star to ESPN and Scout and a 4-star to Rivals and 24/7. He had a decent season as a true freshman:

Green appeared in 12 games as a freshman last season, rushing 24 times for 105 yards and two touchdowns and catching one pass for 25 yards and a TD.

It seems that a lot of Nebraska fans felt that that Green would be the #2 back this year and the starter once Burkhead left. It seems he left because he was unhappy splitting carries with Abdullah at the #2 back.

Free article over at Rivals about where Ty is in his recruitment. Doesn't seem like anything negative for us, and probably not a whole lot of change from what we already knew.

Malcolm Gladwell: Why College Football Should Be Outlawed

Slate interviews the best-selling author about head injuries, player exploitation and the subversion of the academic mission.

Colleges are going to get sued, and they will have to decide whether they can afford their legal exposure. That said, the issue ought to be how big-time college sports subverts the academic mission of university education.

Michigan landed preferred walk-on 2012 Quarterback Brian Cleary from U of D Jesuit. The 6'3 205 pound quarterback had an offer from CMU, and will more than likely garner an offer from Michigan State next week. Welcome aboard!

Michigan offers Soph CB

Michigan offers Soph CB

Really quiet on the recruiting front these days, and because the 2013 class is going so well it looks as though the Michigan coaches keep moving on with new offers. 2011 8A state champ Bolingbrook, Illoinois has really been putting out some top talent in the last couple years. LB Antonio Morrison took a hard look at Michigan before deciding on Florida. Another is Aaron Bailey who is a 4-star QB that chose Illinois over the weekend. Bailey had offers from OSU, Nebraska, Notre Dame, and others but chose Illinois. This kid will really be good, especially with the new offense being installed at Illinois. One of his offers was from Arizona, and I hear that the coach out there has quite the ability to identify quality QB prospects???

Now comes 2014 CB prospect Parker Westphal. For those who dont know, former Mich DB Todd Howard who is an alum and position coach at Bolingbrook has some great things to say about Parker (http://hsillinois.scout.com/2/1133770.html). Over the weekend he was offered by Michigan. He lists Michigan and several other BigTen schools as places he has always liked. I've seen this kid since he has been in 6th grade and he is really a good looking player.  I hope that the early offer combined with Howards presence gives us a leg up on the competition because I really think this kid is going to be a big timer. Not too big of an update but just something to keep an eye on as news continues to be a little slow.

Season Ticket Deadline May 4

Since the Athletic Department isn't mailing out renewal packets this year, I thought I would remind the MGo Community that the deadline for renewing football season tickets is May 4.

(I checked to see if there was any other thread on this and didn't find one.  I await my beating if I missed one.)

Chris Greenwood- Anyone Know the Real Story?

Chris Greenwood- Anyone Know the Real Story?

Submitted by Ziff72 on April 30th, 2012 at 2:19 PM

The Lions draft of Chris Greenwood really has me perplexed.   This guy went to Detroit King supposedly so it wasn't like he was at a school that would not get scouted.  Was this guy on the recruiting radar when he came out?   This guys measurables rank with Patrick Peterson and Deion Sanders if that 40 time is legit.  6' 2" corners that  run 4.4 forty times get drafted in the 1st rd not play at Albion.

I couldn't find him on Rivals database.   My guess is either he had a 7inch growth spurt or he quit football while at King.   Seems like a crazy story in there somewhere but no one seems to have covered it yet.
