HTTV, David Harris, and Kenny Demens

HTTV, David Harris, and Kenny Demens

I've seen many references to this in recent times, including when I was reading HTTV. There seems to be some sentiment around here that Kenny Demens is better than Obi Ezeh but he won't make anyone forget about David Harris. I'm kind of confused why people are down on Demens in that way. He's not Ray Lewis, but David Harris wasn't Ray Lewis, either.

As a junior, David Harris had 88 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, .5 sacks, 3 pass breakups, 1 fumble recovery, and 2 forced fumbles.

In a comparison of junior seasons, Kenny Demens had 94 tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, and 2 pass breakups.

Those are pretty similar statistics, and while Harris did more in the turnover department, I'm not sure why people are insisting that David Harris was so much better. Demens still has a year to get to that level. He may or may not get there, but I don't think it's really a fair argument to compare the two careers right now.

Big Ten Recruiting Rankings: 8-5-12

Little of note in this week's rankings, though once again Penn State loses a commitment, this time to Notre Dame. As a result, PSU continues to drop down the board. Changes since the last rankings:

8-1-12: Purdue picks up Austin Logan.
8-3-12: Illinois picks up Darwyn Kelly.
8-4-12: Northwestern picks up Keith Watkins.
8-5-12: William Fuller decommits from Penn State. Notre Dame picks up William Fuller.

^The average of the average rankings of the four recruiting services (the previous four columns). The figure is calculated based on the raw numbers and then rounded, so the numbers above may not average out exactly.

NOTE: Unranked recruits are counted as two-star players.

To eliminate any confusion about how the rankings are determined (to be honest, they used to be arbitrary), team order is determined by multiplying the number of commits by star average.

On to the full data after the jump.

I think players usually check into the hotel on the first Sunday in August and start practice on Monday. Does anyone know for sure the schedule this year? I guess I'm a little concerned that they may become SEALs instead of playing football this year.

EDIT: Nevermind. Freshmen reported yesterday, everybody else today, practice tomorrow:

Hey you all! If you're making it down to Lincoln for the UM Nebraska game at Memorial this year I just wanted to let you all know you're more than welcome to party with us before kick off. We usually have our tailgate towards the North end of the stadium but we might move this year, don't know yet. We'll have plenty of beer, chicken, ribs, ny strip steak, wings, brats, pork hell you name it and we'll have it! lol See you all October 27th! I'll give the full details in the middle week of October but just giving an FYI for now! GO BIG RED :)

Hello all you MGoblogers,

I have not recieved my signed issue of "Hail to the Victors" and was curious about the status of your orders. I live in Chicago, and thought that might attribute to the delay in recieiving the magazine. I was hoping to have it in time to take it to the fan day next weekend. Any feedback you can offer would be helpful.

Thank you

As promised, here are the two wallpaper concepts for 'Bama week.  Thanks to everyone who gave such positive reviews of the first wallpaper of the two that I posted last week. Now, I've included a new one so that, along with others available, you can have a rotating wallpaper until we've taken down the Crimson Tide in Arlington.  Hope you like them.  Go Blue, beat 'Bama!

Here's the wallpaper from last week:
