Regional Comcast Outage: SE MI

Regional Comcast Outage: SE MI

Submitted by mgokev on October 20th, 2012 at 8:14 AM

I'm hoping this saves some of my fellow mgobloggers from waiting on the phone for 1hr 23min as I did this morning.  I just got off the phone with Comcast and they are experiencing a "major multi-city outage" in SE Michigan.  I currently have no internet or television and due to the severity of the issue, the service rep has no timetable of the return of services.

Apparently it has something to do with the major lines and according to the rep, this happened overnight and they were just made aware this morning.  The issue has the potential to keep services unavailable for multiple days, though they're "working very hard to restore services".  There is nothing that can be done and when services are restored, they will just reappear.

My hopes are that this saves some of the mgomobile users from wasting their time as there's no other information to share.  You should* receive a prorated credit for today's service outage.

So if you had plans to watch the game at home or have a bunch of friends over with a bunch of food you bought yesterday and have already started to cook in preparation of Gameday, the noon games, and of course our game [sigh], you might want to try a bar...well, one that doesn't use Comcast for their TV's, I guess.

Here's to hoping it's fixed within the next seven hours.

Help Needed - Honeymoon in Curacao

Help Needed - Honeymoon in Curacao

I promised I would never do this, but I'm on my honeymoon with my new bride in Curaco - she was nice enough to let me wear vineyard vines Michigan ties as my groomsmens apparel.

Anyway, my question was, does anyone have any links to a live stream of the game (or a BTN premium purchase I can make) for the game? Alternatively, recommendations for a bar in weird old Curacao that show the BTN would be appreciated.

Yours in blue, always,

FC 32 Mitchell White (5-11, 185, Sr.-5)

BC 5 JOHNNY ADAMS (5-11, 177, Sr.-5)

M:

WR 21 Roy Roundtree (6-0, 180, 5th Sr.)

LG 52 Ricky Barnum (6-3, 296, 5th Sr.)

C 57 Elliott Mealer (6-5, 308, 5th Sr.)

RB 2 Vincent Smith (5-6, 175, Sr./Sr.)

Defense

DT 73 Will Campbell (6-5, 308, Sr./Sr.)

DE 88 Craig Roh (6-5, 281, Sr./Sr.)

MLB 25 Kenny Demens (6-1, 242, 5th Sr.)

WLB 7 Brandin Hawthorne (6-0, 220, Sr./Sr.)

SS 32 Jordan Kovacs (6-0, 202, Sr./Jr.) [Should be listed as "5th Sr."]

SS 23 Floyd Simmons (6-0, 200, 5th Sr.)

RCB 8 J.T. Floyd (6-0, 183, 5th Sr.)

It seems to me that Michigan's senior leadership should dominate in this game.  The difference in the experience level of the 2 teams is considerable, especially when MSU's offense faces Michigan's defense.

Nice article - well worth a read. It really shows how players that might not grab all the headlines contribute in ways some of us might not consider.

Gerg's Beaver explained

Gerg's Beaver explained

An NFL live piece that originally aired in 1997 was just replayed. It was discussing "smash for cash" bounty programs that had been in place for years. They also talked about the beaver. Apparently Gerg had rewarded players with the honor of wearing a beaver after big hits or great play, since the beaver is the "hardest working in the animal kingdom". He tried to continue the tradition. We all know what happened then.

OT- Strategy used by Harbaugh in declining a safety

Maybe I'm not reading it right, which is possible based on excitement level for the big game tomorrow. But if the 49ers were up by 7, and took a safety (which would increase the lead to 9), how in the world would it be possible to lose in 48 seconds?

Either way, Jim shook up Vegas a bit last night with the line being 7-8.5

My boss just left so I have the huge decision of whether or not to try and duck out early on a Friday afternoon.  Would be a no-brainer except last time I got the dreaded phone call while in the car.  To pass the time let us create some 5-7-5 poetry in honor of East Lansing Veterinary College. Here are a few to start the ball rolling:
