Lions Ownership Discussing Firing Jim Schwartz

Lions Ownership Discussing Firing Jim Schwartz

ESPN's Chris Mortenson (contradicting an earlier report by Michigan's own Adam Schefter) is reporting that Lions ownership is having discussions about firing Schwartz. They're reportedly concerned with the severe off the field image hit the team has taken of late, along with the obvious disappointment of finishing 4-12 after a playoff year. @ProFootballTalk: A week after Schefty said Jim Schwartz is safe, Mort says Schwartz could be fired http://t.co/ipOhrlr3 Personally, I'd just clean house and show Mayhew the door as well. Mayhew put this roster together, and has to shoulder as much blame as anyone. Also, if his draft record is to come into focus, he has clearly been unable to add starters in the secondary, line backing, or the offensive line. I think the playoff appearance last year masks a lot of porous drafting.

Put them together because they all overlap, and who wants to flip from thread to thread for each game? Particularly when we all stop watching at 7 pm for the Michigan basketball open thread. BWW thread later should be separate because lots of people will watch the Spartans late night after our game vs. Central. If a mod thinks we need 3 threads for games on ESPN and the Deuce at the same time he can break it up.

Patrick Omameh was spotted this week after practice with a new hard cast on his left hand and may have broken it. Doubt it will keep him out of the game, but who knows...definitely shouldn't get called for a holding penalty now.

If that does not tell you something about his character and personality, I don't know what else would. I am not sure I have ever seen a quote like that about an opposing player whom you just met for the first time. It is at the bottom of an article on Denard.

While on the South Carolina bus returning to the team hotel, Sanders said he and his teammates discussed that Gardner would be a welcome addition to the Gamecocks.

"He could fit it on our team, because that's how our whole team is — we like to joke and play around, and I could tell that's how the Michigan team is, too," Sanders said. "He is a true comedian. Having somebody on the team like that makes the workload seem a little lighter when you can laugh and joke like that. I would enjoy having him on our team."

**I don't blame him....this has to be the worst name for a bowl game this year. It's not even so bad it's good. But it does feature 2 BCS teams, which is a change. And future B1G member vs. our opponent in last season's bowl.
